  • Patent number: 9396481
Abstract: A system and method for communicating gaming machine information to a player is disclosed herein. The system includes a mobile communication device for the player, a server and a gaming machine at a venue. The gaming machine comprises a transceiver for receiving and transmitting short-range communication transmissions, and a maximum payoff event. The communication informs the player that the maximum payoff event for the gaming machine has not occurred and invites the player to visit the venue during the interval between visits.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 31, 2015
Date of Patent: July 19, 2016
    Assignee: Joingo, LLC
Inventors: Alex Kanwetz, John D. Finney

  • Patent number: 8565737
Abstract: A method and system for an end user (caller) to easily opt-in to receive digital communications, such as for a mobile marketing campaign, is disclosed herein. A caller uses a mobile communication device to make a standard voice phone call to a predefined number. A voice call termination point captures the caller ID. The caller then makes a selection, and the call is terminated. If the caller is determined to be using a mobile communication device, a confirmation of the selection is sent to the mobile communication device.

  • Patent number: 7499816
Abstract: Phasor measurement units (108) provide phasor data from various locations (102) in an electrical power system. The phasor data is referenced to a common timing signal. Non-phasor measurement data is also obtained at various locations in the power system. A phasor assisted state estimator (120) uses the phasor data and the non-phasor data to determine the power system state.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: March 3, 2009
    Assignee: ABB Research Ltd.
Inventors: Ernst Scholtz, Reynaldo F. Nuqui, John D. Finney, Mats Larsson, Mani Subramanian, Gordon Lin
  • Patent number: 7494271
Abstract: A sag calculator (122) computes sag for a span of a section of a power line based at least in part upon a temperature of conductor lines in the line section. A temperature calculator (120) determines the temperature by computing a resistance ascertained through augmented state estimation techniques performed by a state estimator (118). A Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system (104) acquires data used by the state estimator (118) to compute the resistance.

  • Publication number: 20040054564
Abstract: The optimization of resources for energy markets is provided. In an illustrative implementation, the systems and methods described herein comprise an exemplary computing application operating in a computing environment that cooperates with a repository having at least one computational equation, rule, and/or model and executing a computational model engine that employs computational equations, rules, and/or models that generates behavior information for an observed system. In operation, energy market characteristic information acts as input to the exemplary computing application which executes the computational model engine that processes the energy market characteristic information using the computational equations, rules and/or models to produce power system behavior data. This behavior data is then acted upon by the exemplary computing application to generate optimization solutions to optimize power distribution resources.
