Abstract: A portable electric rescue tool, such as spreader and cutter tool, that allows for manual or remote operation, and operates on a DC power source, which may be an external power source and/or an onboard rechargeable battery. For example, the tool includes a battery cradle or battery attachment portion adapted to removably receive a rechargeable battery pack and electrically couple the battery pack to the tool. The tool also includes a power adapter that is adapted to be removably coupled to the battery attachment portion instead of the battery pack, and allows the tool to be electrically connected to an external DC power source, such as a vehicle battery or other DC power source.

Abstract: A diaper system for infants including a disposable, biodegradable inner insert and a reusable, washable outer cover. The insert is disposed next to the baby's body and absorbs liquid waste and captures solid waste. The cover holds the insert securely in place on the infant and serves as a backup for retention of liquid and solid waste. Periodically, the system is changed whereby the cover is removed, the insert is then removed from the infant and disposed of in garbage or the like, where it later biodegrades. The baby is cleaned and a fresh insert is applied. The same or a new cover is then applied and secured to hold the insert in place. The process can be repeated indefinitely and a relatively small number of reusable covers (for example 2 or 3) can be used, and cleaned periodically, with a larger number of disposable and biodegradable inserts (for example approximately 100 per month). Embodiments of the disposable insert and reusable cover are also disclosed.

Abstract: A portable rescue tool which operates off electric power and which comprises a clutch mechanism for orienting high torque spreading and/or cutting motion that is produced by the portable rescue tool in a plurality of possible directions with respect to the portable rescue tool. The portable rescue tool comprises a rotary switch for controlling the operation of the portable rescue tool, a DC motor connected to the rotary switch for providing a high speed, low torque output, a gear reduction assembly coupled to the DC motor for decreasing the speed and increasing the torque of the DC motor output, an actuator assembly coupled to the gear reduction assembly for providing a low speed, high torque output, and a clutch mechanism associated with the actuator assembly for orienting the direction of the low speed, high torque output with respect to the portable rescue tool.
