  • Patent number: 5989421
Abstract: A filter assembly (10) with a filter housing (12) and a bag-type filter element (14). A collar (36) is disposed inside the housing below an opening (42) through which a process stream is introduced into the filter assembly. The filter element includes a filter bag (70) to which a sealing ring (72) is attached. The sealing ring is formed to define a channel (84) in which the collar is seated. The sealing ring also has a lip (86) that snap secures against a complementary stepped surface (60) formed around the collar. A gasket (85) attached to the sealing ring forms a liquid-tight barrier between the collar and the sealing ring. The collar is also formed with a boss (62). The sealing ring defines a alignment notch (88). In order to seal the filter element in place, boss (62) must seat in alignment notch (88); this ensures that when the filter element is secured in place, it is properly aligned with the other components of the filter assembly.

  • Patent number: 5569383
Abstract: A self-cleaning pressure filter system comprises a housing having an unfiltered liquid inlet and a filtered liquid outlet, a filter element of substantially constant cross section having an interior communicating with the unfiltered liquid inlet and an exterior communicating with the filtered liquid outlet for filtering solids from the liquid and wherein filtered out solids are left in the interior of the filtered element. A cleaning unit is simultaneously moved both axially and rotatively along the interior of the filter element and carries at least one cleaning blade movable in a spiral path along the interior face of the filter element for removing solids accumulated thereon.

A cleaning unit is moved axially along the interior of the filter element and carries at least one radially expansible, substantially annular cleaning member movable in an axial path along the interior face of the filter element for removing solids accumulated thereon. In an least one embodiment of the invention, the radially expansible cleaning member is a split ring circumferentially exhaustible by a spring member. In at least one embodiment of the invention, axial reciprocation of the cleaning member is achieved without need to reverse a rotating member.

  • Patent number: 4769136
Abstract: A filter assembly includes at least one filter unit, a plurality of conduits extending transversely past the filter unit, a plurality of valves actuable to connect the filter unit to the conduits for alternate forward and reverse fluid flow through the filter unit, a plurality of actuators designed to actuate said valves on a one to one basis and a single drive motor linked to all the actuators of a given filter unit. The number of valves and actuators per filter unit correspond to the number of conduits to which the filter unit is to be attached.
