  • Patent number: 5344460
Abstract: A tibial insert and baseplate system is disclosed for a prosthesis. The tibial baseplate is right or left knee specific while the insert is symmetrical about an anterior-posterior centerline and is thus not right or left knee specific. The baseplate has an outer periphery which is asymmetrical to mate exactly with either the left or right tibia but not with both. The upper surface of the baseplate, which also has an asymmetrical periphery, in addition, defines a symmetrical housing within the periphery for the symmetrical insert.

  • Patent number: 4921493
Abstract: A rasp tool comprises a handle and a cutter. The rasp tool carries a releasable locking assembly to couple the cutter to the handle. The releasable locking assembly is compactly arranged at the distal end of the handle and the mating proximal end of the cutter. The assembly includes a first interconnecting means for opposing longitudinal separation between the handle and the cutter, and a second interconnecting means for opposing lateral motion between the cutter and the handle. The releasable locking assembly provides an effective, simple to use, manually controllable means for attaching and detaching the cutter to the handle.

  • Patent number: 4714470
Abstract: A prosthetic implant including a plurality of discrete grooves disposed in the proximal end of the implant stem. The grooves are each segments of curves generated from radii having a center of curvature offset from the implant stem in a generally lateral direction and toward the upper portion of the proximal end of the stem. The curve segments are preferably segments of concentric circles.
