  • Publication number: 20140120178
Abstract: The present invention provides a multi-component encapsulated reactive formulation comprising a mixture of two or more dry powder components, where each dry powder component is formed from a phase inversion process involving vigorous mixing. The dry powder is stabilized by hydrophobic colloidal particles, which assist in generating stable “dry water” microdroplets. One dry powder component comprises hydrophobic colloidal particles encapsulating microdroplets comprising an aqueous solution of one reactant, and the at least one other dry powder component comprises hydrophobic colloidal particles encapsulating microdroplets comprising an aqueous solution of another reactant. When the encapsulated formulation is agitated such that the encapsulates are broken, the encapsulates rupture and the two aqueous solutions undergo a reaction upon contact.

  • Patent number: 7901152
Abstract: A dispensing device (1) comprising a reservoir (3) for storing a fabric cleaning fluid (9) having a viscosity of over 10 Pa.s at rest or under an applied stress of up to 10 Pa, one or more dispensing orifices (13) in fluid communication with the reservoir (3), a movable platform movable (11) by means of a screw mechanism (19), whereby rotation of a screw (21) advances the movable platform (11) against the stored, fabric cleaning fluid (9) thereby dispensing a metered dose of the cleaning fluid (9) from the reservoir (3) to be dispensed via the dispensing orifices (13).

  • Patent number: 7297674
Abstract: The present invention provides a shear thinning, transparent gel laundry detergent composition, comprising a surfactant system containing surfactant material selected from an anionic surfactant, a nonionic surfactant or a mixture thereof, and from 0.1 to 10% by weight of a clarity improving agent being a glycol dialkyl ether selected from a mono-or polyethylene glycol dialkyl ether having the formula (CpH2p+1)O—(CH2CH2O)n—(CqH2q+1),??(I) a mono- or polypropylene glycol dialkyl ether having the formula (CpH2p+1)O—(CH2CH (CH3)O)n—(CqH2q+1),??(II) ?and mixtures thereof, wherein p and q independently are integers in the range of from 1 to 5, and n is an integer in the range of from 1 to 50, preferably 1 to 10. It has been found that this gel laundry composition is highly transparent, such that particles can be suspended therein for improving visual appearance.

  • Patent number: 7022657
Abstract: The present invention provides a shear thinning, transparent, gel laundry detergent composition, comprising a surfactant system containing surfactant material selected from an anionic surfactant, a nonionic surfactant or a mixture thereof, and from 1 to 8% by weight of a fatty alcohol gelling agent having the formula wherein R1, R2 and R3 are independently selected from hydrogen and saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched C1–C16 alkyl groups, whereby the total number of carbon atoms in the gelling agent is between 8 and 17. It has been found that this gel laundry composition can stable suspend particles or capsules either for improving visual appearance or for practical reasons.

  • Patent number: 7018970
Abstract: According to the inventive method of making gels, the main mixture comprising most of the ingredients with the exception of a fatty alcohol is mixed, using at least one in-line mixer, with the gelling post-mix comprising the fatty alcohol. The preferred process includes the mixing of the main mixture and the gelling post-mix just prior to either filling or storing the composition.

  • Patent number: 6972278
Abstract: A shear-thinning lamellar gel detergent composition containing suspended particles, employing a non-neutralized fatty acid as a structuring agent, in a specific amount, depending on the total surfactant level. The weight % ratio of non-neutralized fatty acid to the total surfactant within a specific range, defined by the Gelling Index equation, results in gels with the desired properties. The inventive product offers an advantage of laundry pre-treater and a detergent in a single product and also provides a visual cue of suspended particles.
