The arm (101) moves relative to the tapered region (105) to transition the firearm obstructer (100) between locking and unlocking configurations. In the locking configuration, the firearm obstructer (100) engages with the passage (200) to hold the firearm obstructer 100 in place in the passage (200). The firearm obstructer (100) so positioned provides an obstruction in the passage (200). In the unlocking configuration, the firearm obstructer (100) is removable from the passage (200). A method of operating the same.
