  • Patent number: 8421275
Abstract: An apparatus is provided that includes first and second switches in line between an appliance and terminals of the appliance that are connectable to a power source. The first switched is configured to open and close based on closing and opening of a door of the appliance, and the second switch is configured to open and close based on the mode of the appliance. Thus, the appliance may be connected to the power source when the first switch or the second switch is closed, and disconnected from the power source when both the first switch and the second switch are open. The apparatus further includes a third switch connected to the second switch and configured to control the second switch to close upon actuation of the third switch by a user, where actuation of the third switch may cause the appliance to enter an operational mode.

  • Publication number: 20050177784
Abstract: A system and method are provided for creating and managing electronic documents, complete with navigational elements, suitable for distribution over a computer network, such as the Internet. The invention includes a method for adding both linear and hierarchical navigation to the electronic document, as well as a method for the generation and management of the appropriate navigational links. The invention also includes a method to apply custom designs to the electronic document through the use of a templating mechanism. The electronic documents produced by the invention are composed of static text and images, do not require any dynamic server process and can be hosted by any Internet Web server software or hosted locally on any computer system or read-only medium, requiring no proprietary hosting technology.

  • Patent number: 4436957
Abstract: A telephone security system particularly for use with cordless telephone, operates to prevent the base station of the system from being accessed by an unauthorized user.Preselected digits are set by means of switches. In order to receive a dial tone, the correct digits as selected by the switches must be dialed. The security system operates to compare the dialed digits with those digits set by the switches. If a favorable comparison is had, the security device then connects the telephone line to the base station and allows dial tone to be transmitted to thereby enable a call to be implemented by the user.

  • Patent number: 4243845
Abstract: A repertory dialer provides instant recall of any one of a plurality of telephone numbers which are stored in a memory associated with the dialer. Each stored number is available at the touch of a recall button and an appropriate key button. The numbers as stored are automatically converted into Touch Tone signals for transmission via a conventional telephone line. The dialer can operate in a storage mode to enable a user to program a desired number to be stored in association with a particular key. The storage mode is accessed by means of a separate storage key. The apparatus further includes a last number storage mode wherein the last telephone number dialed by the apparatus can be recalled and retransmitted via a double depression of the recall key.
