Patent number: 9332880Abstract: A spice grinder comprising a bottle (60) and a grinder unit (10) which is screwed onto the bottle. The grinder unit comprises a fixed component (12) and a rotatable component (14). The components have teeth (28, 44) which face one another across a grinding gap (52). The component (12) has one or more ramps (54) on the inside thereof and the bottle (60) has one or more external ramps (66). Each ramp (54) comprises a camming surface (56) and a locking surface (58) which intersect. The ramp (66) also comprises a camming surface (68) and a locking surface (70). When the grinder unit (10) is screwed onto the bottle the ramps (54, 66) ride over one another until the surfaces (56, 70) clear one another and the surfaces (58, 70) snap into face-to-face contact to prevent the grinder unit being rotated in the direction which unscrews it from the bottle.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2014Date of Patent: May 10, 2016Inventors: David Stephen Delbridge, Patrick John Delbridge

Patent number: 9317229Abstract: A solution for evaluating a compatibility of a selected finishing with printed data of a document is provided. A page model is obtained for a page of the document, and its compatibility with a model of the selected finishing is evaluated. Each model can comprise a representation of a page/finishing (e.g., a bitmap) and/or a set of properties of the page/finishing. In an embodiment of the invention, the page model comprises a page bitmap and the finishing model comprises a finishing bitmap, which includes a set of impinged pixels. The two bitmaps are compared to determine whether any of the printed data in the page bitmap intersects any of the impinged pixels.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2006Date of Patent: April 19, 2016Assignee: Mimeo.com, Inc.Inventors: Craig Jacobs, David Uyttendaele, John Delbridge, Scott Manner

Publication number: 20130277473Abstract: The invention relates to a spice grinder which comprises a fixed component 12, a rotatable component 14, and a non-rotatable further component which is axially displaceable with respect to the rotatable component 14. An adjustment means 28 is provided for displacing the further component 13 axially with respect to the rotatable component 14. The further component 13 and the rotatable component 14 have grinding teeth (46 60 62) which face one another across a grinding gap. The further component 13 includes a first ramp having a camming surface 50 which co-operates with the camming surface 32 of a second ramp on the adjustment means 28.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 28, 2011Publication date: October 24, 2013Inventors: Patrick John Delbridge, David Stephen Delbridge

Patent number: 8038087Abstract: A spice grinder includes a first component (12) that can be secured to the neck of a spice container, and a second component (14) that is mounted on the first component (12) for rotation with respect thereto. The first and second components (12,14) including grinding teeth (24,58) between which spice corns are ground when the second component (14) is rotated on the first component (12). Passageways are provided between the first and second components through which spice ground by the teeth emerges from the grinding gap between the teeth, and a movable shutter (16) is provided for varying the degree to which the corns are ground by varying the sizes of the passageways.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2007Date of Patent: October 18, 2011Inventors: Patrick John Delbridge, David Stephen Delbridge

Publication number: 20100044485Abstract: The spice grinder (10) disclosed comprises a non-rotatable component (12) which fits on the top of a bottle or other container and a rotatable component (14) which fits onto the component (12). The component (12) has a bore with teeth (24) projecting inwardly from the surface of the bore. The component (14) has teeth (51, 58) and grinding takes place in the grinding gap between these teeth and the teeth (24) when the component (14) is rotated on the component (12). Apertures (60) enable ground spice to fall from the inverted grinder. The grinder also includes a movable shutter (16) which is displacable with respect to the apertures (60) to enable the area of each passageway to be varied.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 25, 2007Publication date: February 25, 2010Inventors: Patrick John Delbridge, David Stephen Delbridge

Patent number: 7284719Abstract: A spice grinder (12) comprising a first, static component (10) which includes threading (14) by means of which it can be screwed onto the threaded neck of a container and a second, rotatable component (16) which fits on the component (10). The first component (10) has a tapering bore with teeth (30) projecting inwardly from the surface of the bore. The second component (16) has a cone (44) with teeth (48) on the outside thereof. The teeth (48) are in the tapering bore whereby grinding takes place in the gap between the teeth of the first and second components upon the second component being rotated. The first and second component (10, 16) have interlocking circumferentially extending ribs and grooves (32, 50, 52) which permit the rotatable component (16) to be moved axially and located in its adjusted position thereby to vary the size of the gap between the teeth (30) of the rotatable component and the teeth (48) of the static component.Type: GrantFiled: November 11, 2004Date of Patent: October 23, 2007Inventors: David Stephen Delbridge, Patrick John Delbridge
