  • Publication number: 20050087189
Abstract: A drug delivery apparatus comprising: a drug delivery device for selectively delivering drug-laden air or air not laden with the drug; a sensor for monitoring the breathing pattern of a patient; a controller arranged to control the drug delivery device to deliver drug-laden air in pulses which begin when the patient is monitored by the sensor to begin inhalation, the pulses having a duration which is adjusted by the controller on the basis of the monitored breathing pattern of the patient; a feedback indicator which indicates to a patient whether the monitored breathing pattern is effective for inhaling drug-laden air or not a dose calculator which calculates the dose delivered to the patient; and an indicator which indicates to the patient when a desired dose has been delivered, whereby the apparatus is configured to deliver the full amount of the desired dose in at least 80% of treatments.

  • Publication number: 20050073402
Abstract: Described is a method for provisioning status monitoring for a network element in a communications network. Multiple predefined templates are provided to a user. Each template corresponds to a particular facility type and includes multiple profiles. Each profile includes a value for each of a plurality of status types. One of the profiles is selected for an instantiation of the facility type in the network element to implement status monitoring. The status monitoring is responsive to the values in the selected profile. Each value can define a reporting state for a respective one of a plurality of alarm types. Alternatively, each profile can define a threshold value for a respective one of a plurality of performance parameters. Optionally, one or more values in a selected profile can be edited by the user.

  • Patent number: 6634356
Abstract: A CPAP controller that supplies oxygen enriched air to a respiratory circuit that utilizes a venturi-jet arrangement within a chamber, which enriches ambient air. Ambient air is drawn into the chamber by a primary oxygen flow source via an oxygen jet that directs oxygen into the venturi. Besides the conventional ability to adjust oxygen/air ratio via changes in the primary oxygen flow source's flow rate adjustment, the oxygen/air ratio may be altered by way of a secondary oxygen supply and its own flow control adjustment that is independent of the primary oxygen source and its adjustment mechanism. Hence the oxygen/air ratio may be adjusted independently of the primary oxygen source's flow rate. The controller further includes a pressure adjustment mechanism that allows the user to adjust pressure to the demand and/or need of the patient.
