  • Publication number: 20040263739
Abstract: A method for forming an aligned polymer layer, the method comprising: bringing a solution of the polymer dissolved in a solvent into contact with a substrate; and depositing the layer on the substrate by progressively absorbing molecules of the polymer from solution on to the substrate in the presence of a field capable of inducing alignment in the polymer; and separating the substrate from the solution.

  • Publication number: 20040256615
Abstract: An electronic device comprising a layer of a polymer having an electrically conductive or semiconductive main chain, wherein the chains of the polymer have an electrically conductive or semiconductive charge transporting end-group at each end thereof, and the polymer in the layer is organised in a lamellar structure having ordered regions, in which the polymer main chains are aligned with respect to each other, and boundary regions which separate the ordered regions and in which the degree of alignment between adjacent polymer main chains is less than that in the ordered regions.

  • Publication number: 20040253836
Abstract: A method for forming an aligned layer of a polymer, the method comprising: depositing a film of the polymer from solution in a solvent onto a substrate; and bringing the polymer into alignment by annealing the film at a temperature below the melting temperature of the polymer in isotropic bulk, and cooling the film.

  • Publication number: 20040248338
Abstract: A method for forming an aligned polymer layer, the method comprising: depositing a film of the polymer in a solvent; bringing the polymer into alignment whilst some of the solvent remains present in the film; and solidifying the film by removing the solvent from the film.

  • Patent number: 6425341
Abstract: A boat hull represented in a high speed attitude relative to a water surface-has a generally monohull section. A forward keel portion is flattened to form a plank-like planing surface having a replaceable shoe including stability extensions. Main bodies of sponsons are configured with air dams or spray walls. The sponsons define outer walls of side tunnels. The hull form, inboard of the side tunnels, provides side planing surfaces that step down transversely to the keel planing surface. Front and rear portions of the sponsons are connected by the air dam or spray walls and bound side tunnels having side planks or planing surfaces disposed at their inner edge. A step in the keel is provided to define a tunnel disposed between two downwardly depending side walls. Across afterplanes an integrated undersurface has an outboard motor insertion space with a continuation of the recess upper surface and provides a lateral boundary of a space.

  • Patent number: 6378882
Abstract: An exercise cycle comprising a frame, a hinge, and a drive mechanism. The frame comprises a forward frame member and a rearward frame member. The hinge operatively connects the forward frame member to the rearward frame member such that the forward and rearward frame members are pivotally moveable relative to each other about a hinge axis between operable and stowable positions. The drive mechanism includes an endless loop assembly. The exercise cycle is configured such that the frame may be folded without removal of the endless loop assembly. The cycle further includes left and right linearly reciprocating assemblies. The left reciprocating assembly is configured for being moved back and forth with foot pressure and hand pressure from a user's left hand and left foot. The right reciprocating assembly is configured for being moved back and forth with foot pressure and hand pressure from a user's right hand and right foot.

  • Patent number: 4951926
Abstract: A choke for use with a carburetor on an internal combustion engine comprises a housing having an air inlet and an air outlet the air outlet being adapted for communication with the air intake of a carburetor. A valve means within the housing includes a valve member and means biassing the valve member in a direction to block the passage of air between the air inlet and the air outlet of the housing. The valve means is responsive to engine vacuum during starting of the engine to move the valve member in a direction against the biassing means to permit air to enter the carburetor from outside the housing via the air inlet and air outlet thereof.

  • Patent number: 4949692
Abstract: A diaphragm type carburetor comprising a main body portion defining a venturi having an air intake side and an engine outlet side. The carburetor has a throttle shutter mounted within the venturi between the air intake side and the engine outlet side, and a metering chamber supplies fuel into the venturi via a main discharge port. The main discharge port opens into the venturi on the air intake side of the throttle shutter. A monitoring means (FIG. 3) is provided to monitor an engine parameter and an electrically controlled valve means is provided to adjust the fuel flow through the main discharge port into the venturi. The valve means is responsive to an electrical signal generated by the monitoring means in response to the engine parameter.
