  • Publication number: 20160047824
Abstract: A personal test device includes a preparation vessel, a sampler and an analytical unit, wherein the preparation vessel has a first chamber with first and second openings, wherein each of the first and second openings is sealed thereby to seal the first chamber, and the first chamber holds one or more reagents; the sampler is for holding a sample, and the sampler is adapted to pierce the seals at the first and second openings; and the analytical unit is adapted to analyse material from the first chamber. Also provided is a sample preparation vessel, a sampler and an analytical unit and methods for using the personal test device, including the preparation vessel, sampler and analytical unit, to detect blood in a sample.

  • Publication number: 20150241423
Abstract: This invention relates to the detection of analyte in a sample using an electrochemical sensor that comprises a control sensing element, a detection sensing element and a magnet which selectively attracts magnetic beads to the detection sensing element relative to the control sensing element. The sensing elements produce a signal which is indicative of the amount of enzymatic label at the sensing element. In the presence of analyte in the sample exposed to the sensing elements, an immunocomplex is formed which comprises the analyte, the enzymatic label and a magnetic bead. The immunocomplex is attracted to the detection sensing element by the magnet. An increase in the amount of enzymatic label at the detection sensing element relative to the control sensing element is indicative of the presence or amount of analyte in the sample. Methods, sensors, devices and kits are provided.

  • Patent number: 8742773
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided to determine a capacitance of an electrochemical biosensor test cell of a test strip via determination of a phase angle between an output signal and input oscillating signal from the electrochemical test cell with measurement of an amplitude of the output signal from the electrochemical test cell along with conversion of the measured amplitude into a complex impedance of the electrochemical test cell based on the oscillating signal, phase angle and electrical resistance between the test cell and the connectors to derive a capacitance of the electrochemical test cell based on the complex impedance and predetermined frequency of the electrochemical test cell.
