  • Patent number: 5122057
Abstract: A dental cartridge for dispensing a dental material having a body portion made of a material transparent to at least a portion of the visible light spectrum and opaque to the actinic light of the dental material contained therein. Also, a dental cartridge having a body portion formed from a toroidal segment and a coaxial nozzle attached thereto. The dental cartridges are used in a dental syringe for application of the dental material to a patient. Several embodiments provide various discharge end configurations, including hemispherical, conical frustum, and flat. Additionally, dosing indicia are placed on the body portion of the dental cartridge, permitting the dentist to fill the dental cartridge with a predetermined volume of dental material. A specially configured piston having an appendage thereon is used in combination with the dental cartridge for extruding substantially all of the costly dental material therein.

  • Patent number: 5106297
Abstract: A dental tray having depressions therein for holding a bottle of dental material upside down and having wells of distinctive shape and configuration. An inexpensive disposable tray is disclosed for use in preparing single or multiple component bonding liquids and sealants. Multiple depressions configured to hold a bottle having a cap with a shoulder upside down are formed within the tray so the dentist can readily dispense the single or multiple component bonding liquids and sealants. Distinctively shaped wells are positioned in line with the depressions holding the bottle upside down preventing confusion between the multi-part dispensed bonding liquids and sealants. A finger indentation in the side opposite the depressions is provided to facilitate holding the lightweight tray during mixing or use, as well as to further provide a divided fuel to the tray preventing confusion between the dispensed component parts of the multiple component bonding liquids and sealants.

  • Patent number: 5052927
Abstract: A dental syringe and disposable capsule for dispensing a dental material wherein the capsule includes a reservoir portion containing a predetermined amount of material to be dispensed, and which reservoir is connected in communication with a discharge tip. Connected to the end of the tip and projecting therethrough is a needle cannula through which the material is ejected. A displaceable piston, which seals the material within the reservoir portion, is provided to force the material through the cannula when displaced within the reservoir portion. The arrangement is such that the cannula connection within the tip end permits the cannula to be rotatably mounted relative to the tip while maintaining a seal between the tip and the cannula.

  • Patent number: 5001803
Abstract: A disposable dental brush for applying various dental materials onto a tooth in thin, even coatings, e.g. etchants, sealants, bonding agents, tints, opaquers, varnishes and the like that includes an elongated straight handle having a tuft of bristles connected to one end thereof. The elongated handle is constructed so as to allow the portion thereof adjacent to the brush end relative to the longitudinal axis of to be readily bent so as to angularly dispose the brush end the handle. The arrangement is such that the brush can be used either as a straight brush or an angularly bent brush to reach difficult areas of the mouth or teeth. Also, the brush is made of inexpensive plastic material so as to render it readily expendible or disposable after each use.

  • Patent number: 4654027
Abstract: A vascular dilating device for performing a coronary angioplasty procedure that includes a tubular barrel defining a reservoir for containing a supply of actuating fluid and having a plunger and connected piston reciprocially disposed within the reservoir. The outlet of the reservoir is connected to a valve assembly having an outlet to which a balloon catheter is connected. The valve assembly includes a control valve and a unidirectional valve which are co-operatively associated for directing fluid from the reservoir to the balloon catheter in one direction only when the control valve is disposed in a balloon inflating position and the handle is actuated to advance the plunger. A by-pass is also provided in the valve assembly to reverse the fluid flow from the balloon catheter to the reservoir when the control valve is disposed in a second or balloon deflating position.
