  • Publication number: 20070071168
Abstract: An apparatus and method for optimizing a workspace of a radiation treatment delivery system. An optimized treatment plan is generated for delivering a dose of radiation to a volume of interest (“VOI”) in a patient using fewer changes to a treatment plan parameter during delivery of the dose of radiation then available to a radiation treatment delivery system. The optimized treatment plan limits a number of adjustments to the treatment plan parameter during delivery of the dose of radiation. Prior to delivery, the optimized treatment plan is analyzed to determine whether a quality of the optimized treatment plan is acceptable.

  • Publication number: 20070010207
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for the ultra-precise analysis and characterization of RF propagation dynamics in complex wireless communication networks. The invented system includes sub-systems for the collection of network specific performance and environmental data, the consolidation of said data into representative signature elements, and the organization of said signature elements into a relational matrix. Through the invented methodology, RF performance and environmental composition data are closely correlated in uniformly weighted signature elements. These signatures, arranged in a relational matrix, represent a multiplicity of propagation pattern extrema. Limited RF data is compiled and formed into fractional signature elements.

  • Patent number: 7092825
Abstract: A method of protein engineering is provided wherein a searchable computer database is created comprising entries in the form of descriptions of a location and orientation in 3D space of side chains of the constituent amino acid residues of a framework protein. A query is created which corresponds to a description of a location and orientation in 3D space of respective side chains of amino acid residues of a sample protein. The location and orientation in 3D space of constituent side-chains is preferably described as a C?–C? vector. The query is used to search the database and thereby identify a hit which corresponds to a framework protein having structural similarity with said sample protein. Framework protein “hits” so identified may be suitable candidates for further modification. A particular advantage of the present invention is that a modified framework protein may display one or more desired characteristics, such as a function similar to or inhibitory of the sample protein.

  • Publication number: 20060074292
Abstract: Treatment targets such as tumors or lesions, located within an anatomical region that undergoes motion (which may be periodic with cycle P), are dynamically tracked. A 4D mathematical model is established for the non-rigid motion and deformation of the anatomical region, from a set of CT or other 3D images. The 4D mathematical model relates the 3D locations of part(s) of the anatomical region with the targets being tracked, as a function of the position in time within P. Using fiducial-less non-rigid image registration between pre-operative DRRs and intra-operative x-ray images, the absolute position of the target and/or other part(s) of the anatomical region is determined. The cycle P is determined using motion sensors such as surface markers. The radiation beams are delivered using: 1) the results of non-rigid image registration; 2) the 4D model; and 3) the position in time within P.

  • Publication number: 20050243737
Abstract: A wireless local area network includes access ports which communicate over a wired network with wireless switches which control the access ports and bridge data between portals in the access ports and another network. Code for operating the access ports and for configuring the portals is separately downloaded from the wireless switch. Where an access port includes more than one portal, separate ethernet addresses are assigned to the processor of the access port and to the portals for communications with the wireless switch. The protocol may provide separate sequence numbers for the communications and include a command field.

  • Patent number: 5414438
Abstract: The Space Lattice Passive Repeater redirects radio waves in two directions, directly opposite to each other, and both perpendicular to the original path of radio wave propagation. The redirected radio waves, in the perpendicular paths, are polarized differently, by ninety degrees, from the original radio wave. The device is composed of an array of thin, stacked, metallic, plates, insulated from each other, whose vertical spacing, between the plates, is computed from the operating wavelength, the ratio of the moist adiabatic lapse rate to the dry adiabatic lapse rate, Bragg's Law, and its' derivatives.
