  • Publication number: 20250229575
Abstract: A non-pneumatic tire is provided that has an annular support extending inward from an annular beam, and a rim that extends inward from the annular support. A tread is located outward from the annular beam, and has a surface with an axially central point P1 located at a midpoint of the tread in the lateral direction. The tread has a point P3 on the surface located at an axial extent of the tread, and a point P2 between the axially central point P1 and point P3 in the lateral direction. The surface has a circumference around the axis of the tire that is P1CIR at the axially central point P1, and has a circumference around the axis that is P3CIR at the point P3. P3CIR is at least 50 millimeters less than P1CIR.

  • Publication number: 20250214376
Abstract: A non-pneumatic tire (100) is provided that has a rim (104) with an axis extending therethrough. An annular support (103) extends outward from the rim in a radial direction. A tread (101) is present that has a surface, and a farthest outer axial extent (804) located at a terminal end of the tread in the lateral direction. An annular beam (200) is located between the annular support (103) and the tread (101) in the radial direction. The annular beam (200) has a reinforcement portion (300) that has a plurality of reinforcing elements. The reinforcing element closest to the farthest outer axial extent in the lateral direction is at a width W1 to the farthest outer axial extent in the lateral direction. W1 is at least 8 millimeters.

  • Publication number: 20230173774
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for forming a nonpneumatic tire that is constructed from a thermoplastic elastomer which is pre-tensioned during the process of its formation. The Pretention is provided by a thermal means that is naturally available in the forming process. This creates an efficient process of manufacturing by creating pretention without the complexity of adding pretention from mechanical means. The method for forming the non-pneumatic tire includes inserting a tread portion (101) and an annular beam (102) having circumferential reinforcement into a mold, the mold supporting the tread pattern only on an outer radial extent of the tread pattern, inserting a rim (104) extending radially inward from the annular beam (102), and forming an annular support (103) comprised of a thermoplastic elastomer extending radially inward from the annular beam (102)). The thermoplastic elastomer is allowed to harden and the tire is removed from the mold.

  • Publication number: 20230173845
Abstract: Provided is an non-pneumatic tire that includes thermoplastic elastomer which is pre-tensioned during the process of forming the non-pneumatic tire. The pre-tension is provided by a thermal means that is naturally available in the forming process. This results in an efficient manufacturing combined with efficiency of pre-tension, without a complexity of adding a pre-tension from mechanical means.
