  • Publication number: 20210291177
Abstract: A reagent carrier includes: a cap configured to fit on an opening of a reaction vessel; and a reagent confined by the cap. The cap may be configured to release the reagent when a user manipulates the cap while the cap is fitted on the opening of the reaction vessel. For example, the reagent may be released when the user twists the cap from a first position to a second position or when the user pushes on a surface of the cap. The cap may be configured to seal the opening of the reaction vessel when the cap is fitted on the opening of the reaction vessel. In some implementations, the cap may be a blister cap containing the reagent. In some implementations, the cap may include a cage containing the reagent. In some implementations, the cap may include a deformable structure containing the reagent.

  • Publication number: 20200331651
Abstract: An expandable container includes a substantially horizontal base, four side walls, and a rim defining a container opening having a larger cross section than the base. At least one of the four side walls is configured as a movable side wall, having an upwardly extending side portion and a substantially horizontal base portion. An upper edge portion of the side portion is connected to the rim by a hinge such that the movable side wall is movable between a nesting position, in which the side wall is inclined to facilitate nesting of the container inside another container, and an expanded position, in which the side wall is moved outwardly to increase the storage space of the container, when compared to the nesting position. A system includes a main tote in which a plurality of expandable containers as described above may be nested.

  • Patent number: 9899008
Abstract: A bridge assembly for a stringed instrument including an assembly body including a rounded rocker portion positionable against the stringed instrument. The assembly body is rockable on the stringed instrument. A string height adjustment member is connectable to the stringed instrument and extendable through the assembly body. When the rounded rocker portion of the assembly body is positioned against the stringed instrument, and the string height adjustment member extends through the assembly body and connects the assembly body to the stringed instrument, the string height adjustment member is operable to rock the assembly body on the stringed instrument via the rounded rocker member and adjust the height of a string resting on the assembly body. The bridge assembly can be used to adjust the height and intonation of, and to provide an anchor for, a string resting on the bridge assembly. A stringed instrument including the improved bridge assembly.

  • Patent number: 9618003
Abstract: A high efficiency transverse flux motor fan utilizes a transverse flux motor that can provide torque to drive fan blades at a reduced weight over conventional induction and brushless DC motors. A fan incorporating a transverse flux motor may be a residential ceiling fan or high volume low speed fan. Transverse flux motors are ideal for these applications as they have a higher efficiency at low revolutions per minute. A transverse flux motor may have a stator utilizing a ring shaped lamina that has extending members that form a coil channel. A lamina may be a unitary piece of material that is formed from a sheet of metal, thereby providing a very lightweight stator assembly. An exemplary fan may provide an airflow efficiency of more than about 236 L/s*W, (500 CFM/watt), an essential airflow density of more than about 2.36 L/s*g, (5 CFM/gram) and a power density of about 150 W/kg or more.

  • Patent number: 9617446
Abstract: Coating compositions are disclosed having a non-bisphenol A based film forming resin and an adhesion promoter resin. The coating compositions provide an alternate to epoxy resins that still allow melamine formaldehyde free cure, blush resistance, capability to retort and can withstand hard-to-hold beverages. In some embodiments, the coating compositions are used to coat substrates such as cans and packaging materials for the storage of food and beverages. Substrates can be coated by preparing an adhesion promoter composition by a method including mixing an epoxidized resin and a solvent to form a mixture, adding a phosphoric acid compound to the resulting mixture to form a phosphate ester, adding water to partially hydrolyze the phosphate ester, and adding a neutralizer to form the adhesion promoter resin, followed by blending the adhesion promoter resin with a non-bisphenol A based film forming resin to form a coating composition, and applying the coating composition to the substrate.

  • Patent number: 9236773
Abstract: An electrical machine includes a rotor with a rotational axis, a coil arranged circumferentially with respect to and fully encircling the rotational axis, and a stator assembly. The stator assembly includes first and second lamination stacks comprising associated pluralities of laminae, the stacks being arranged circumferentially with respect to the rotational axis on opposing sides of the coil for conducting magnetic flux. The stacks are configured with gaps generally radially through the laminae thereof, defining separate circumferential segments in each laminae, to prevent creating a continuous electrical circuit around the rotational axis in the segments. Each laminae has a connecting ring spaced radially from the segments, and beams connecting the segments to the ring as a unitary piece. Back return elements extend axially between the stacks to provide a flux path therebetween, and are positioned circumferentially between adjacent parts of the beams and radially between the segments and the ring.

  • Patent number: 8464280
Abstract: A system and method for controlling the execution of notifications in a computer system with multiple notification contexts. A RunOn operator enables context hopping between notification contexts. Push-based stream operators optionally perform error checking to determine if notifications combined into a push-based stream share a common notification context. Context boxes group together notification creators and associate their notifications with a common scheduler and notification context. Operators employ a composition architecture, in which they receive one or more push-based streams and produce a transformed push-based stream that may be further operated upon. Components may be used in combinations to implement various policies, including a strict policy in which all notifications are scheduled in a common execution context, a permissive policy that provides programming flexibility, and a hybrid policy that combines flexibility with error checking.
