  • Publication number: 20250179097
Abstract: The present disclosure concerns crystalline pairs of triethylsilyl-ethynyl tetraceno[2,3-b]thiophene and derivatives thereof. The crystallized pairs generate and maintain a high degree of spin polarization that constitutes a qubit. In some aspects, end substitution of a heterocyclic ring with a silicon-based group enforces the necessary pairwise interaction, with larger intermolecular distances between pairs in the crystal that can then produce a parallel alignment of the magnetic axes of all molecules within the crystal unit cell. In addition, end substitution provide energy level alignment between a triplet pair and the emissive singlet state which then allows for low temperature emission from the triplet pair.

  • Patent number: 8931269
Abstract: An actuator is provided having a temperature activatable actuating member comprising an inductively couplable material. The actuator has an electrical heating element for electrically heating the actuating member. The heating element is configured to inductively couple with said material when an AC current is passed through the heating element such that an opposing electromotive force is induced in the heating element. A detector is provided for detecting activation of the actuating member by sensing a change in the AC impedance of the heating element.

  • Publication number: 20110219764
Abstract: An actuator comprises an actuator element in the form of a lamina 2 made from a shape memory material. A heating element 6 is bonded to the lamina 2 and serves to heat the lamina 2 to cause it change phase and thereby operate the actuator. The heating element 6 is encapsulated in a bonding layer 4 which is bonded to the lamina 2. The heating element 6 is made from a superelastic and/or shape memory effect material, for example an alloy such as NiTi, which exhibits superelastic properties so that the heating element 6 can follow the strain induced in the lamina 2 without being strained beyond its elastic limit.
