    Abstract: A treated confectionery can be baked along with a dough and exhibits the distinct characteristics of a confectionery even after baking. The confectionery, which is comprised of a substantial amount of fat, is prepared by heating a confectionery of suitable composition to form a melt, and then cooling and solidifying the confectionery through the temperature range of about 120.degree. F. to about 80.degree. F. at an overall rate that is sufficiently slow for the desired product characteristics to develop.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a method of and mechanism for transferring a knitted fabric from the knitting needles (28) of a flat knitting machine (10) to the needles (38) of a magazine bar (21).One of the beds (12) of the machine is dropped slightly and the tips of transfer elements (24) are brought into juxtaposition with the needles (28). The tips of the elements (24) are then engaged in the eyes of the needles (28) which are then withdrawn to transfer the loops of the fabric to the elements (24). The latter are then moved into engagement with the needles (38) of the magazine bar (21) and the loops transferred to the magazine needles by means of teeth (52) of a member (50) which engage and carry the loops from the elements (24) to the needles (38).

    Abstract: A spin tuned magnetron (FIG. 2) includes a spinner 3 which interacts with a magnetron cavity to modulate its frequency of oscillation. The spinner runs in bearings 8, 9 around a shaft 7. The lives of the bearings are a controlling factor in the life of the magnetron.The outer races OR are fixed in position relative to each other and to the spinner by spacers, 13, 14 and a spring 15 arranged between an abutment 11 and a circlip 12 on the spinner. The inner races are arranged to be moveable relative to each other and to the shaft by virtue of spacers 10 and 17, a spring 16 between the inner races, and a further spring 18. A pole-piece nose 4 is arranged to be screwed down on the shaft to compress the springs 16 and 18 to provide a desired amount of axial float on the spinner. By setting the axial float the bearing load can be shared as desired and thus increase the lives of the bearings.

    Abstract: An apparatus for and method of heat curing elastomeric electrical insulation on a central electrical conductor of an electrical cable is provided and the apparatus includes an outer housing which is adapted to contain means for curing the exterior portion of the insulation from its outer portion inwardly and an electrical induction coil for curing the insulation from its inner portion outwardly. The coil is supported concentrically within the housing with the coil being adapted to receive the conductor therethrough with its insulation thereon and the coil serves to heat the conductor which in turn transmits heat to the inner portion of the insulation to provide the heat curing thereof from the inner portion radially outwardly. A magnetic flux shield is provided between the housing and the coil and serves to provide a path of least resistance for the lines of magnetic flux generated by the coil to thereby assure efficient operation of the induction coil yet without detrimental heating of the outer housing.

    Abstract: An apparatus for inducing vibratory oscillations in an airfoil is provided to simulate the dynamic aeroelastic interaction between the airfoil and a gas flow field. The apparatus includes first means for supporting the airfoil during inducement of the vibrations and second means movable in response to variations in magnetic flux to rotate the airfoil about first and second axes. Third means are provided for generating a variable magnetic flux field in response to an electrical control signal provided by fourth means.
