    Abstract: An apparatus for molding a tire includes a first mold section having a first cavity, with an annular ridge disposed thereon. The apparatus also includes a second mold section having a second cavity. A plurality of lugs are removably attached to the first mold section. The apparatus further includes a ring having a plurality of projections, wherein the lugs retain the ring in a fixed position against the first mold section about the annular ridge.
