  • Publication number: 20240148953
Abstract: Centrifuges are useful to, among other things, remove red blood cells from whole blood and retain platelets and other factors in a reduced volume of plasma. Platelet rich plasma (PRP) and or platelet poor plasma (PPP) can be obtained rapidly and is ready for immediate injection into the host. Embodiments may include valves, operated manually or automatically, to open ports that discharge the excess red blood cells and the excess plasma into separate receivers while retaining the platelets and other factors in the centrifuge chamber. High speeds used allow simple and small embodiments to be used at the patient's side during surgical procedures. The embodiments can also be used for the separation of liquids or slurries in other fields such as, for example, the separation of pigments or lubricants.

  • Publication number: 20240062863
Abstract: A system and method providing automated voice-based healthcare plan delivery. The system interfaces with the patient through a voice-controlled personal assistant appliance via the internet. Some embodiments are implemented as voice applications or skills within the eco-system of an existing voice-controlled personal assistant device/appliance (hereinafter VCPAD). The system and method allow a clinician to create, digitally input, and modify a healthcare plan for a patient using a simple computer/web interface and without the need of any software development or computer programming skills, and allows a patient to interface with and query that healthcare plan using a largely conventional voice-controlled digital assistant appliance simply and efficiently to extract information about his/her individual healthcare plan in the patient's own language.

  • Publication number: 20040031737
Abstract: A fluid filtration system, particularly for use in piston cooling jets, includes a fluid chamber with a filter element disposed therein. In one embodiment, the filter element comprises a tubular filter telescopically attached within a coil spring. In a second embodiment, the filter element comprises a coil spring serving as a filter. The filter element is installed within the fluid chamber, so its interior is in communication with one of an inlet and outlet of the chamber, by compressing the filter element and inserting it through an aperture in the fluid chamber which serves as the other of the fluid inlet and outlet. The filter element then expands and is held in place by its resilient bias. The filter element of the invention can be used to apply local filtration, and can be readily removed for cleaning or replacement by reversing the installation process.
