  • Patent number: 6131845
Abstract: A fiber guide for spooling glass fiber from an automatic coil winding machine onto a spool. The guide has a body or pay guide assembly with a receiving aperture. Two similar sections are held together with a slight gap between them. Left and right parallel strands of music wire are tightly stretched through the gap across the receiving aperture of the arc and are anchored at each end. A spool with flanged edges receives the left and right parallel strands or guides and is maintained very close to the last layer or surface of fiber laid down. A guide pulley is carried by the guide for guiding glass fiber between the left and right parallel strands and onto the spool. The parallel strands are tensioned by anchoring each wire in a respective standoff. In one embodiment, each end of a music wire wraps around a standoff. The wires extend through the cross drilled holes permitting adjustment by turning the standoff. In an alternative embodiment, a tensioner is formed by a pivotal plate, relative to the guide.

  • Patent number: 5351422
Abstract: A conventional fixed cleat of a golf shoe is replaced with a retractable cleat formed in a unitary body defining a plate with an inside flat surface and an insert member extending laterally from the flat surface, the insert member having threads about its periphery generally corresponding in diameter and length to the threads of a conventional fixed golf cleat. An axial hole extends through the plate and the insert member, and a biasing member and a retractable cleat extend through the axial hole so that the biasing member pushes the retractable cleat outwardly. A unitary flange covers the axial hole at the distal extremity, to retain the biasing member.

  • Patent number: 4397185
Abstract: An inertial instruments uses a suspension structure that is exterior to and surrounds a cup shaped inertial mass which carries torquing magnets within the cup. Torquer coils are also located within the cup. In a preferred embodiment, axially magnetized disc magnets within the cup cooperate with toroidal torquer coils. In other embodiments segmented or bar magnets are used. The instrument can be used either as a gyroscope by coupling the suspension to a rotor, or as an accelerometer.

  • Patent number: 4301731
Abstract: An air shooting system for use in lieu of explosives in the mining of coal employing a set of tubular shooting heads fitted in respective shot holes in a coal seam. Each shooting head is fed with air under high pressure and has a valve mechanism for triggering discharge of the air when it reaches a predetermined pressure. The source of air pressure is connected to a manifold and automatic shut-off valves are interposed between the manifold and the lines feeding the individual shooting heads. Each shut-off valve has a movable valve element biased into a normally open position to permit flow of air from inlet to outlet but which is snapped into closed position and held there by the inlet pressure when there is a sudden drop in pressure at the outlet accompanying discharge at the associated shooting head. The shooting heads are set to trigger in series at incrementally spaced pressures until all of the shut-off valves are in closed condition.
