  • Publication number: 20170311731
Abstract: An innerspring unit with a plurality of helical coils arranged in at least one array in which the coils are generally aligned in rows, with the coils having generally cylindrical bodies formed by helical turns of the spring with openings in between each of the helical turns. The embodiment may also include a plurality of compressible support members, each of which is secured within at least one of the openings so that each one of the compressible support members is secured within an opening. The compressible support members may be stacked on top of one another. A plurality of innerspring units may be arranged together to form a mattress.

  • Patent number: 6484338
Abstract: An innerspring unit for a mattress is manufactured by inserting a resilient element into the passage between each two adjacent rows of springs of the innerspring unit. The height dimension of the resilient element is greater than the distance between the upper and lower spring retainer structures of the innerspring unit, whereby the resilient element remains partially compressed heightwise between the spring retainer structures.

  • Patent number: 5210890
Abstract: A mattress foundation includes upper and lower frame sections which are resiliently interconnected and supported by a combination of springs and foam. In different embodiments, the springs comprise coil springs, torsion springs, torsion spring modules or a combination thereof. In one embodiment, the foam comprises an elongate piece of foam which extends peripherally around the foundation and envelops or encases the springs. The foam is slitted in a pattern to receive portions of the springs. Alternatively, the foam comprises discrete foam blocks spaced around the periphery of the foundation and between select pairs of adjacent springs.
