  • Publication number: 20240103182
Abstract: Techniques are provided for employing an embedded software defined radio (SDR) in a navigation system. A navigation system implementing the techniques according to an embodiment includes a global positioning system (GPS) receiver configured to acquire and track received GPS signals. The system also includes an SDR configured to process received communication signals. The communication signals include timing data. The SDR is further configured to calculate position and navigation data based on a combination of the processed communication signals and the tracked GPS signals provided by the GPS receiver. The system further includes a system timer configured to provide a common time base for use by the GPS receiver and the SDR. The navigation system is implemented in an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC).

  • Patent number: 8427166
Abstract: An invention is provided for determining a state of health of a battery. The invention includes applying a predefined load profile to a battery, and obtaining a plurality of battery response voltage data corresponding to points along the predefined load profile. The battery electrical double layer capacity data is calculated from the battery response voltage data, and thereafter utilized to determine the state of health of the battery.

  • Patent number: 7605591
Abstract: An invention is provided for determining a state of health of a battery. The invention includes applying a predefined load profile to a battery, and obtaining a plurality of battery response voltage data corresponding to points along the predefined load profile. A matrix of parameters, which includes, among other data, battery ohm resistance data, battery chemical resistance data, and battery electrical double layer capacity data, is calculated from the battery response voltage data. Thereafter, the matrix of parameters is utilized to determine the state of health of the battery.

  • Patent number: 7446509
Abstract: An invention is provided for detecting polarization in a battery during battery charging. The invention includes applying a waveform to a battery, and obtaining a plurality of battery response voltage readings corresponding to points along the applied waveform. A battery response voltage curve is calculated based on the voltage differences between the plurality of battery response voltage readings. A battery polarization point is then identified when the slope of the battery response voltage curve stops increasing at an increasing rate. To enhance accuracy, a plurality of battery response voltage curves can be calculated, each based on voltage differences between battery response voltage readings taken along the waveform. The battery polarization point can then be identified when the slopes of all the battery response voltage curves stop increasing at an increasing rate.

  • Patent number: 5376477
Abstract: A battery-plate separator system includes three layers in face-to-face relationship, the first and third layers including a porous mat of randomly oriented fibers, and, between the first and third layers, a second layer comprising a porous organic polymeric sheet with tortuosity and pores sufficiently small to substantially block penetration by metallic particles. A storage battery includes a plurality of positive lead peroxide elec-trodes, a plurality of negative metallic lead electrodes, and the same three-layer separator system in a closed case with a body of electrolyte to which the system is inert, that is absorbed by the separator system, and that is maintained in contact with the electrodes.

  • Patent number: 4455357
Abstract: An improved housing assembly for aircraft batteries is disclosed in which an insulated bezel is fastened to a cast aluminum housing using the battery electrical terminals. The bezel serves both to isolate the terminals from the housing and to provide a locating frame for a terminal enclosure. Recessed threaded inserts are used to fasten the terminal enclosure.
