  • Patent number: 8067087
Abstract: A heat seal adhesive paper product is provided according to the invention. The heat seal adhesive paper product comprises a paper substrate and a heat activatable adhesive. The heat activatable adhesive comprises a result of applying an aqueous polymer dispersion to the paper substrate to form a coated paper substrate and drying the coated paper substrate. The aqueous polymer dispersion includes a polymer component having a melting temperature (Tm) greater than about 220° F. and a glass transition temperature (Tg) greater than about 50° F. A method for manufacturing a heat seal adhesive paper product is provided and a laminate product containing the heat seal adhesive paper product is provided.

  • Patent number: 7547649
Abstract: The invention relates to a laminate comprising a first web of fibers and a first film that together form a first ply and a second web of fibers and a second film that together form a second ply, wherein an adhesive layer is disposed between the plies and serves as a grease barrier. A laminate according to the invention serves as a grease barrier without the need for fluorochemical treatment. The invention also relates to a method of making a laminate comprising forming a first ply and a second ply and applying an adhesive layer between the plies. The invention also relates to an article comprising a laminate and a charge of oil and popcorn.

  • Patent number: 4797176
Abstract: A thermosetting size applyable to paper in a size press and curable at a temperature not in excess of about 280.degree. F. for 10 seconds is disclosed. This size comprises an aqueous emulsion comprising water having suspended therein aqueous emulsion copolymer particles of monoethylenically unsaturated monomers comprising hydroxy-functional monomer having an hydroxy number of at least about 20, and the balance of the monomers provides a water insoluble polymer having a glass transition temperature of from about -20.degree. C. to about 50.degree. C. The emulsion has a pH greater than about 2.5, preferably from 4.0 to 7.0, and a stoichiometric deficiency of an aminoplast cross-linking agent is used for cure. An acid curing catalyst is uniformly distributed in the size to speed the cure.
