  • Patent number: 4614136
Abstract: A mandrel assembly is disclosed for use in a portable lathe apparatus for machining the end face of a hollow workpiece. The mandrel supports an orbiting cutting tool which machines the end face and defines a cutting plane. The angle of the longitudinal axis of the mandrel and, consequently the cutting plane which is perpendicular thereto, is angularly adjustable with respect to the central axis of the workpiece. This enables the formation of a miter cut on the end of the workpiece. Complimentary hemispherical surfaces having common centers located at the juncture of the cutting plane and the central axis of the workpiece allow the mandrel to be angularly adjusted in any direction.

  • Patent number: 4422356
Abstract: A cutting tool bit holder for a machine tool removably secures a bit having a dovetail base in cutting position on a rotary tool fixture by means of a removable clamp bar and an opposed gib surface. The clamp bar is secured by removable fasteners and the tool bit may be reversable and standardized.

  • Patent number: 4319503
Abstract: A main body, including a tube holding portion, a tube end squaring and deburring portion and a tool bit actuating portion, is provided with a side handle which can be gripped for support and concurrently rotated to advance the tool bit into engagement with the tube end. A conventional electrical drill rotates the tool bit and a cam converts handle rotation to tool bit advance.

  • Patent number: 4246814
Abstract: A mandrel arrangement for mounting a pipe machining tool for rotation relative to at least one end of a pipe bend to be machined. Locating plate means are detachably mountable on the mandrel for positioning the mandrel in the pipe bend in a predetermined location. Clamping means are provided on the mandrel for clamping the pipe means in the predetermined location. A mandrel shaft means is detachably mounted to the mandrel adjacent one or both of the ends thereof for receiving the pipe machining tool to machine the ends of the pipe bend. The locking means is cam actuated to frictionally clamp the mandrel in the pipe bend at the predetermined position and the structure of the cam operated locking means allows utilization of the pipe mandrel in comparatively small internal diameter pipe bends.

  • Patent number: 4207786
Abstract: A pipe bevelling tool arrangement for providing a predetermined bevel on the end surface of a pipe. The arrangement described herein provides an orbital cam follower bevelling tool that provides a constant bevel leaving a radially extending land on the end surface of a pipe having a predetermined minimal radial extent regardless of the "out-of-round" condition of the pipe. A cam is mounted to engage the exterior surface of the pipe and a bevelling tool is rigidly coupled to the cam and the cam and bevelling tool orbit around the nominal center line of the pipe. The cam and the pipe bevelling tool are resiliently mounted on a rigid arm rotating about the nominal center line of the pipe and the pipe bevelling tool follows movement of the cam in a radial direction. The pipe bevelling tool is set in a preselected position with respect to the cam to provide the desired bevel portion and extent of the radially extending portion on the end surface of the pipe.
