  • Publication number: 20090120507
Abstract: A fluid metering/pumping device preferably includes a series of intermeshing gears. The fluid metering/pumping device includes an inlet port or area adjacent the intermeshing portion of each pair of gears within the series adjacent the point at which the pair of gears diverge. The device further includes a pressure loaded floating shoe adjacent the intermeshing portion of each pair of gears within the series adjacent the point at which the pair of gears converge. The device further includes a piston subjected to discharge pressure at each discharge port which conveys hydraulic pressure to each floating shoe. The device is configured to convey liquid from a main inlet stream of liquid, through the inlet ports or areas, and out of one or more discharge ports at substantially equal rates.

  • Patent number: 5198009
Abstract: Alkali metal-containing glass beads for use as sources in thermionic detectors for gas chromatography are manufactured by a method which produces reproducible beads of preselected sizes. A glass tube of the desired composition is reduced to capillary size. A section having the volume of the desired bead is cut from the capillary tube and threaded onto a support wire. It is then melted and caused to coalesce onto the support wire. The resultant bead and a portion of the support wire are then incorporated into the detector.

  • Patent number: 4096746
Abstract: There is disclosed a flow controller-flow sensor combination especiably suited for gas chromatograph applications wherein a transducer monitors the pressure at the inlet and outlet of a flow restrictor element in the controller thereby to monitor the differential pressure across the restrictor; the differential pressure being proportional to the gas velocity through the flow restrictor element. In one form of the invention, a second flow restrictor element is provided in one input line to the transducer which preferably is of relatively low impedance in order to delay the buildup of the pressure head of the corresponding input of the transducer sensor, thus to enable the pressure at the outlet of the flow restrictor in the controller to buildup gradually so as not to exceed the maximum differential pressure specifications for said transducer.
