  • Patent number: 5224614
Abstract: A non-handled, flexible and lightweight plastic bottle for dispensing a liquid product, such as edible oils, by tilting the bottle along its vertical axis and pouring. The bottle has a flexible body with a rigid grip design. The grip design has a generally C-shaped cross-section when taken parallel to the bottle's vertical axis and an oblong cross-section when taken perpendicular to the bottle's vertical axis. The oblong cross-section of the grip area has a major axis parallel to its longest dimension and a minor axis parallel to its shortest dimension. The grip area has two parallel opposing beams parallel to the major axis which are inwardly indented. The two beams are joined in a closed circuit by two opposing arches, which are also inwardly indented but to a lesser extent. Each arch has a three-dimensional reinforcing means along its periphery from a point adjacent one beam to a point adjacent the opposing beam.

  • Patent number: 5049349
Abstract: An improved bag-in-box (BIB) composite container in which the container's inner bag is blow-molded inside the container's outer box. In one preferred method the body portion, which is a heated and softened preform preferably made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is placed within a carton through an aperture in the carton's top end panel, followed by injecting a pressurized gas into the preform to expand it into a bag within the outer box. In another particularly preferred method, a parison is extruded into an outer carton through an aperture in the carton's top end panel, followed by injecting a pressurized gas into the parison to expand it into a bag within the outer box.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4696840
Abstract: An improved bag-in-box (BIB) composite container wherein the container's inner bag is blow-molded inside the container's outer box. In one embodiment of the present invention, the body portion a heated and softened preform preferably made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is placed within a carton through an aperture in the carton's top end panel, followed to injecting expansion means such as a pressurized gas into the preform to expand it into a bag within the outer box. In another particularly preferred embodiment, a parison is extruded into an outer carton through an aperture in the carton's top end panel, followed by injecting expansion means such as a pressurized gas into the parison to expand it into a bag within the outer box. Also disclosed and described are means to enable a consumer to readily grasp the BIB container and to view the product contained therein, as well as apparatus that are useful in making BIB composite containers of the present invention.
