  • Patent number: 7422348
Abstract: A lighting apparatus preferably for use with a removable frame sign includes a light canopy for illuminating the sign when ambient light is less than a predetermined level. The light canopy easily attaches to the frame and illuminates the surfaces of the sign through an arrangement of a plurality of light sources positioned in elongated recesses. The light sources are electrically connected with a rechargeable battery, light sensor, and a solar panel. The solar panel contained in the light canopy is protected and covered by a translucent cover. The lighting apparatus can be readily removed from the sign to allow for interchangeability of the signage and extends the time period for sign visibility during low levels of ambient light.
