  • Patent number: 6946059
Abstract: A paper machine for manufacturing a fiber web traveling in a machine direction and having a tail includes at least one rope defining a rope nip. A threading arm assembly is positioned in association with the rope nip. The threading arm includes a frame and a diverter carried by the frame. The diverter is movable to divert the tail in a direction transverse to the machine direction toward the rope nip.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 23, 2002
Date of Patent: September 20, 2005
    Assignee: Voith Paper Patent GmbH
    Inventors: Leif Mohrsen, John Eagle
  • Patent number: 6942759
Abstract: A method of threading a fiber web tail movable in a machine direction, comprising the steps of: positioning a threading arm assembly in association with a rope nip, the threading arm assembly including a frame and a diverter carried by and movable relative to the frame; diverting the tail using the threading arm assembly in a direction transverse to the machine direction toward the rope nip; and threading the diverted fiber web tail into said rope nip.

  • Patent number: 6928912
Abstract: An apparatus transfers a moving web of a flexible material from a web guide surface. The web guide surface outputs the moving web, and the moving web has at least one web edge. The apparatus includes at least one edge nozzle, each edge nozzle being positioned so as to be proximate one at least one web edge. Each edge nozzle is configured for separating the moving web from the web guide surface and is further configured to function as a severing device. Each edge nozzle is thereby configured for transversely severing the moving web and forming a new start portion thereof. Each edge nozzle briefly ejects therefrom a high-energy air jet, each high-energy air jet being ejected between the web guide surface and the moving web.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: August 16, 2005
    Assignee: Voith Paper Patent GmbH

  • Patent number: 4080985
Abstract: This disclosure pertains to a float, slideably confined within a tube and buoyantly positioned therealong as determined by the level of the water confined within a container such as a bathtub, swimming pool or the like. The float, upon reaching an upper position, closes a set of stationary contacts, which in turn, completes a series electrical circuit including an alarm bell and battery. Simultaneously with the closing of the contacts, an electrically operated solenoid valve, disposed in series with a pipe communicating to a water source used to fill the container, closes so as to halt any further increase in the water level within the container. Altering the length of the float, or varying the positioning of the contacts relative to the mouth of the container, adjusts the maximum level of water that may be disposed within the container.
