    Abstract: A micro-fluid ejecting head for use in a micro-fluid ejecting apparatus includes a plurality of micro-fluid ejection devices, a plurality of driver devices for driving the plurality of micro-fluid ejection devices, and a nonvolatile programmable memory matrix. The memory matrix contains embedded programmable memory devices for storing information related to operation of the micro-fluid ejecting head. The memory matrix is configured to communicate with a controller which is external of the micro-fluid ejecting head. The information stored in the memory matrix may include identification information for the micro-fluid ejecting head, alignment characteristics of the micro-fluid ejecting head, information regarding properties of fluid used by the micro-fluid ejecting head, fluid level information, and fluid use information. The external controller accesses the information stored in the memory matrix and controls the plurality of driver devices based on the information accessed from the memory matrix.

    Abstract: Circuits for use with micro-fluid ejection devices, such as those having a memory array with floating gate transistors With one such memory array, a charge is stored on the gate of at least one transistor, and a current conducted by the transistor is affected by an amount of the charge stored on a gate of the transistor. A signal sensor resolves a current conducted by one of the transistors into one of more than two discrete states. One such signal sensor may be an analog-to-digital converter implemented by a neural network, and one such memory array may be part of a printhead.

    Abstract: Micro-fluid ejection apparatuses and devices, and methods related to communication in and with the same. One such micro-fluid ejection apparatus includes a controller configured to generate a data signal, and a transmitter configured to convert the data signal to a current signal. The apparatus further includes a conductor capable of carrying the current signal, and a receiver configured to receive the current signal from the conductor and to convert the current signal to a second data signal. The micro-fluid ejection apparatus is configured to operate on the second data signal. In one embodiment, the micro-fluid ejection apparatus may be a printing apparatus, such as an inkjet printing apparatus. In some embodiments, the current signal comprises a pair of corresponding differential current signals and/or current transfer logic signals offset from a base amperage level.

    Abstract: A micro-fluid ejecting device includes a semiconductor substrate, a plurality of fluid ejection elements formed on the semiconductor substrate, and a plurality of nonvolatile programmable memory devices for storing information related to the operation of the micro-fluid ejecting device. The programmable memory devices, which are at least partially embedded in the semiconductor substrate, each include a source region and a drain region formed in the semiconductor substrate. The source and drain regions have a conductivity type which is opposite the conductivity type of the semiconductor substrate. An insulative layer is formed on the semiconductor substrate over the source region and drain region. A floating gate region is formed on the insulative layer and is spatially disposed between the source region and drain region. The floating gate region is electrically insulated from the source and drain regions by the insulative layer. Electrical contacts are connected to the source region and the drain region.

A combinational logic circuit receives a signal from the fuse circuit, indicating whether or not the fuse has been blown, and controls the programming of the memory cell.     Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to efficient formation of improved fuses and fuse arrays, such as can be used in memory devices for example, by use of a printer that transfers material to a flexible substrate. In one embodiment, a fuse is printed using an inkjet printer on a flexible substrate fed therethrough, by depositing droplets of conductive material. The droplets form a weak portion and one or more main portions. In one embodiment, the fuse may comprise a single metal material. In additional embodiments, an array of fuses can be printed by an inkjet printer in layers for use as digital memory. For example, a layer can be printed that forms fuse elements and word address conductors, an insulating layer can be printed over the fuses but leaving a window portion exposed, and a third layer can be printed over the window portions to provide bit address conductors.

    Abstract: An ink jet printer includes a printhead control circuit that produces printhead command signals based on data signals provided by the printer. A power circuit actuates ink ejectors in response to the printhead command signals and includes a plurality of compensation circuits. Each ink ejector is associated with a single compensation circuit and each compensation circuit includes a number of switches connected in parallel with each other. Each switch in a single compensation circuit is connected to actuate a single ink ejector when the switch is turned on. The compensation circuits adjust their internal resistance by turning on more or less switches and thereby compensate for changing effective parasitic resistance of the power lines.
