  • Patent number: 11487628
Abstract: Systems for rapidly transferring and, as needed, recovering large data sets and methods for making and using the same. In various embodiments, the system advantageously can allow data to be transferred in larger sizes, wherein data may be easily recovered from multiple regions and wherein latency is no longer an issue, among other things.

Date of Patent: November 1, 2022
    Assignee: R-Stor Inc.
Inventors: John Edward Gerard Matze, Anthony P. Gaughan, Damian Kowalewski
  • Patent number: 8205065
Abstract: A system for deduplicating data comprises a card operable to receive at least one data block and a processor on the card that generates a hash for each data block. The system further comprises a first module that determines a processing status for the hash and a second module that discards duplicate hashes and their data blocks and writes unique hashes and their data blocks to a computer readable medium. In one embodiment, the processor also compresses each data block using a compression algorithm.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 30, 2009
Date of Patent: June 19, 2012
    Assignee: Exar Corporation
    Inventor: John Edward Gerard Matze
  • Patent number: 8127109
Abstract: A virtual block device is an interface with applications that appears to the applications as a memory device, such as a standard block device. The virtual block device interacts with additional elements to do data deduplication to files at the block level such that one or more files accessed using the virtual block device have at least one block which is shared by the one or more files.
