Patent number: 11952305Abstract: In some embodiments, a method for processing an optical fiber includes: drawing an optical fiber through a draw furnace, conveying the optical fiber through a flame reheating device downstream from the draw furnace, wherein the flame reheating device comprises one or more burners each comprising: a body having a top surface and an opposing bottom surface, an opening within the body extending from the top surface through the body to the bottom surface, wherein the optical fiber passes through the opening, and one or more gas outlets within the body; and igniting a flammable gas provided by the one or more gas outlets to form a flame encircling the optical fiber passing through the opening, wherein the flame heats the optical fiber by at least 100 degrees Celsius at a heating rate exceeding 10,000 degrees Celsius/second.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2021Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignee: CORNING INCORPORATEDInventors: Ravindra Kumar Akarapu, Joel Patrick Carberry, David Alan Deneka, Steven Akin Dunwoody, Kenneth Edward Hrdina, John Michael Jewell, Yuanjie Jiang, Nikolaos Pantelis Kladias, Ming-Jun Li, Barada Kanta Nayak, Dale Robert Powers, Chunfeng Zhou, Vincent Matteo Tagliamonti, Christopher Scott Thomas

Publication number: 20200108197Abstract: A syringe including a barrel having an interior surface defining an interior extending along a longitudinal axis between an open end and a closed end opposite the open end. The closed end has an orifice that opens to a nozzle extending from the closed end. The syringe includes a plunger including a support and a seal attached to the support. The seal defines a selectively variable volume hollow cavity within the interior of the barrel. A receiver extends longitudinally from a connector face of the support. The receiver includes multiple jaws spaced for receiving an injector fastener having an insertion end and a retention land. Each jaw has an elastically deformable arm and a catching surface for engaging a retention land of the injector fastener when the injector fastener is seated between the jaws.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 9, 2019Publication date: April 9, 2020Applicant: Espire-Medical, LLCInventors: John Edward Powers, Thomas D. Patent number: 10157263Abstract: Contrast administration data that relates to operation of a contrast media injector system (602) may be converted from at least one format (e.g., a CAN-compliant format) to at least one other format (e.g., an HL-7-compliant format) by an injection data management module (660) for use by a medical system (600). Data on contrast media prescribed for an imaging operation using an imaging system (690), contrast media data for use in this imaging operation, and data on contrast media actually administered/injected by a contrast media injector system (602) for this imaging operation may be stored in a data structure (780) on the injection data management module (660). Patient renal function data may be used to control the dispensing of contrast media from a contrast media/storage/dispensing unit (500), to control the operation of the contrast media injector system (602), or both, and may be stored in the data structure (780) as well.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2013Date of Patent: December 18, 2018Assignee: LIEBEL-FLARSHEIM COMPANY LLCInventors: Vernon D. Ortenzi, John Edward Powers, Robert J. Ziemba, Rhonda J. Soest, Pamela L. Pollard
