  • Patent number: 10440644
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods, apparatus and computer program products for turbo decoder throttling (e.g., in an effort to limit power consumption by a user equipment (UE)). According to an aspect, the UE may identify an error in a received code block (CB) of a transport block (TB). The UE may enter a throttle mode in a decoder at the UE in response to the identified error, wherein the throttle mode determines how one or more subsequent CBs are processed. Numerous other aspects are provided.

  • Publication number: 20190289602
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide a subframe structure for time division duplex (TDD) carriers that can be entirely self-contained. That is, information transmitted on a TDD carrier may be grouped into subframes, where each subframe provides communication in both directions (e.g., uplink and downlink) in a suitable fashion to enable such communication without needing any further information in another subframe. For example, a single subframe may include scheduling information, data information corresponding to the scheduling information, and acknowledgment information corresponding to the data information.

  • Patent number: 10412627
Abstract: Signaling strategies for an advanced receiver with interference cancellation (IC) and suppression is discussed. Upon enablement of an advanced interference cancellation procedure according to the disclosure, transmitters within the enabled area transmit according to transmission restriction configurations that provide transmission limits based on either frequency, time, or scheduling. The restrictions on the transmitters reduces the complexity of processing by neighboring advanced receivers for cancellation of interference from the restricted transmitters. At the advanced receiver, transmission information, such as scheduling, reference signal (RS), resource block (RB) allocation, and the like, may either be determined through blind detection or received directly through signaling. The advanced receiver may use this transmission information associated with each interfering signal to detect, decode, and subtract the interfering signals from the received transmissions.

  • Publication number: 20190274049
Abstract: One or more selectively activated features needed at a device to use a network service may be identified. Authorization information and feature activation key(s) associated with features that the device has been authorized to activate may be obtained at the device. The feature activation key(s) may be used to activate and/or maintain activation of the authorized features that match the selectively activated feature(s) needed to use the network service. An authorization server may obtain a request to activate one or more selectively activated features of a device. The authorization server may verify that the selectively activated feature(s) are authorized to be used at the device based on an authorization agreement obtained at the authorization server. The authorization server may send proof that the device is authorized to use the selectively activated feature(s) and may send feature activation key(s) based on the authorization agreement in response to the request.

  • Patent number: 10405278
Abstract: The disclosure relates in some aspects to an energy-aware architecture that supports a low power scheduling mode. For example, a media access control (MAC) architecture for a base station (e.g., an enhanced Node B) and associated access terminals (e.g., UEs) can take the power needs of the access terminals into account when scheduling the access terminals. In some aspects, an access terminal may support a particular frame structure for a low power mode. Accordingly, scheduling of the access terminal may include use of the particular frame structure during low power mode.

  • Patent number: 10397865
Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer-readable storage media for managing power consumption of a mobile device are disclosed. The systems, method, apparatus, and computer-readable storage medium may cause the base station to identify an energy metric associated with a mobile device, and to configure the transmission between the base station and the mobile device based at least in part on the energy metric. • Patent number: 10389503
Abstract: Systems and techniques are disclosed to enhance the efficiency of available bandwidth between UEs and base stations. A UE transmits a sounding reference signal (SRS) to the base station. The base station characterizes the uplink channel based on the SRS received and, using reciprocity, applies the channel characterization for the downlink channel. As part of applying the channel information, the base station forms the beam to the UE based on the uplink channel information obtained from the SRS. The UE may include an array of antennas, each UE transmitting a different SRS that the base station receives and uses to characterize the downlink. Multiple UEs (or a single UE with multiple antennas) transmit SRS at the same time and frequency allocation (non-orthogonal), but with each sending its own unique SRS. Further, multiple UEs (or a single UE with multiple antennas) may send their SRS at unique time/frequency allocations (orthogonal).

  • Patent number: 10389504
Abstract: Systems and techniques are disclosed to enhance the efficiency of available bandwidth between UEs and base stations. A UE transmits a sounding reference signal to the base station, which characterizes the uplink channel based on the SRS received and, using reciprocity, applies the channel characterization for the downlink channel. The base station may form the beam to the UE based on the uplink channel information obtained from the SRS. As the downlink channel changes the base station needs updated information to maintain its beamforming, meaning it needs a new SRS. Transmission of the SRS takes resources; to minimize this, the UE or the base station can determine a period during which the downlink channel will predictably remain coherent and set up a schedule for sending SRS. Alternatively, the UE or the base station can determine on demand that the channel is losing coherence and initiate an on demand SRS.

  • Patent number: 10389477
Abstract: Wireless communication devices are adapted to facilitate non-orthogonal underlay transmissions. In one example, wireless communication devices can receive a wireless transmission via a particular time and frequency resource, where the wireless transmission includes a first signal employing a modulation associated with orthogonal wireless communication, and a second signal employing a modulation associated with non-orthogonal wireless communication. The wireless communication device can decode the first signal and the second signal. In another example, wireless communication devices may transmit a first signal utilizing a first type of modulation associated with non-orthogonal wireless communication, where the first signal is transmitted over at least a portion of a time and frequency resource scheduled for a second signal from a second wireless communication device, the second signal utilizing a second type of modulation associated with orthogonal wireless communication.

  • Patent number: 10382177
Abstract: Systems and techniques are disclosed to reduce pilot overhead by providing common reference signals coded with cover codes that are orthogonal in time and frequency domains. Common reference signals that are coded by cover codes orthogonal in both domains can be de-spread in both the time and frequency domains for improved resolution and larger pull-in windows for both. Also disclosed is semi-uniform pilot spacing in both the frequency and time domains. In a time domain, a first pilot symbol pair is spaced by a first time interval from each other and a second pilot symbol pair is spaced by a second time interval from the first pair, the second interval being greater than the first. In a frequency domain, a first set of pilot symbols is densely placed in a selected frequency band and a second set of pilot symbols is sparsely placed surrounding and including the selected frequency band.

  • Publication number: 20190239209
Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to the reduction in a probability of collision for grant-less transmissions from internet of everything (IOE) devices while not increasing search complexity at a base station are disclosed. An IOE device randomly selects a first access resource from a common pool that the base station searches to initiate a transmission. If a metric associated with the data transmission is predicted to exceed a threshold, the IOE device also requests a second access resource from a reserved access pool from the base station, that the base station does not search. The IOE includes the request in the data transmission. The base station and the IOE device switch to the second access resource after the base station identifies an available resource from the reserved access pool and the IOE device completes the data transmission using the second access resource.

  • Patent number: 10367621
Abstract: A wireless device may transmit a data block based on a low latency operational mode. The device may then transmit a number of redundancy versions of the data block prior to determining whether an acknowledgement (ACK) has been received. In some examples the ACK may be an augmented ACK, which may be based on the number of redundancy versions received prior to successfully decoding the data block, and which may include an additional resource request. In some examples, the device may select an updated modulation and coding scheme (MCS) based on the augmented ACK. In some examples, the device may increase a number of frequency resources (e.g., component carriers) used for transmission based on the augmented ACK.
