  • Patent number: 4008079
Abstract: Lead based Type II superconducting alloys having high critical current densities are described. The alloys of the invention are characterized by having a matrix of lead and bismuth and/or indium and having a dispersion of particles of copper, tellurium, selenium, nickel, manganese, calcium, chromium, cerium, germanium or lanthanum or of compounds of these with the matrix constituents having an average particle size less than 2 preferably less than 0.5 microns. The alloys of the invention are preferably made by splat casting.
