  • Patent number: 7353436
Abstract: A system, method and computer software product are provided. One embodiment of the present invention provides a method for generating and employing numerical sequences that may be used for synchronization codes. In one embodiment of the present invention, the derivation of numerical sequences, or codes is based on an encoding algorithm. These codes enable synchronization between communicating devices, and may also be used for channelization. This Abstract is provided for the sole purpose of complying with the Abstract requirement rules that allow a reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the disclosure contained herein. This Abstract is submitted with the explicit understanding that it will not be used to interpret or to limit the scope or the meaning of the claims.

  • Publication number: 20070014331
Abstract: An ultra-wideband communications network and methods for communication are provided. In one embodiment of the present invention, a method of encoding data is provided. Generally, the method comprises the steps of calculating a data transformation, encoding a first portion of the data transform with a first forward error correction code at a first encoding rate, and encoding a second portion of the data transform with a second forward error correction code at a second encoding rate.

  • Publication number: 20060045134
Abstract: The present invention provides systems and methods for ultra-wideband communication devices to maintain synchronization. One embodiment of the present invention provides a method by which ultra-wideband communication devices may update their timing references by the use of a statistics register. In another embodiment, a network of ultra-wideband communication devices uses the statistics registers of a plurality of ultra-wideband devices to update their timing references based on calculating a function.

  • Publication number: 20050237975
Abstract: A communication protocol for ultra-wideband communications is provided. The present invention provides compatibility and interoperability between ultra-wideband communications devices within various types of networks. In one embodiment, combined, or interleaved data frames having both high and low data transfer rate capability are provided. The low data transfer rate may be used for initial discovery of the type of network that is being accessed, and the high data transfer rate may be used to quickly transfer data within networks that have a high data transfer rate capability.

  • Patent number: 4839906
Abstract: A digital linked compressor-expander telecommunications system (Lincompex), is implemented using a general purpose digital signal processor wherein the compression and expansion functions are performed by blocks of programmed code. Input audio analog signals are converted to parallel data digital signals thereupon the digitial signals are input for processing. After processing, the resultant signals are passed to a 16-bit digital-to-analog converter where either the compressed or expanded digital voice data signal is converted back into an audio frequency analog signal for either transmission or communication on an output device.
