Patent number: 11920501Abstract: An energy storage system converts variable renewable electricity (VRE) to continuous heat at over 1000° C. Intermittent electrical energy heats a solid medium. Heat from the solid medium is delivered continuously on demand. An array of bricks incorporating internal radiation cavities is directly heated by thermal radiation. The cavities facilitate rapid, uniform heating via reradiation. Heat delivery via flowing gas establishes a thermocline which maintains high outlet temperature throughout discharge. Gas flows through structured pathways within the array, delivering heat which may be used for processes including calcination, hydrogen electrolysis, steam generation, and thermal power generation and cogeneration. Groups of thermal storage arrays may be controlled and operated at high temperatures without thermal runaway via deep-discharge sequencing. Forecast-based control enables continuous, year-round heat supply using current and advance information of weather and VRE availability.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2023Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: Rondo Energy, Inc.Inventors: John Setel O'Donnell, Peter Emery Von Behrens, Chiaki Treynor, Jeremy Quentin Keller, Matthieu Jonemann, Robert Ratz, Yusef Desjardins Ferhani

Publication number: 20230334367Abstract: A system may automatically generate a predictive machine learning model by automatically performing various processes based on an analysis of the data as well as metadata associated with the data. The system may accept a selection of data and a prediction field from the data. The system may automatically generate a set of features based on the data and may automatically remove certain features that cause inaccuracies in the model. The system may balance the data based on a representation rate of certain outcomes. The system may train and select a model based on several candidate models. The system may then perform the predictions based on the selected model and send an indication of the predictions to a user.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 12, 2023Publication date: October 19, 2023Inventors: Sara Beth Asher, John Emery Ball, Vitaly Gordon, Till Christian Bergmann, Fai Kan, Chalenge Masekera, Shubha Nabar, Nihar Dandekar, James Reber Lewis

Patent number: 9578258Abstract: The system provides a method and apparatus for constructing, and for dynamically rearranging the order of content in a composite video. The re-ordering of clips in the composite video can be based on one or more weighting factors associated with each clip. These factors can include freshness or newness of the clip, popularity based on the number of “likes” of a clip by others, the content of the clip (e.g. celebrity creator or presence), paid boosting (e.g. for commercial concerns); and other factors. Each clip has associated metadata that can be used to assign a weight value to the clip for purposes of reordering the composite video.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2014Date of Patent: February 21, 2017Assignee: V-POLL, INC.Inventors: Stephen John Emery, Andrew Jay Sachs, Joseph Sumner, David King Lassman

Patent number: 8037448Abstract: During the design of semiconductor products which incorporates a user specification and an application set, the application set being a partially manufactured semiconductor platform and its resources, a template engine is disclosed which uses a simplified computer language having a character whereby data used in commands identified by the character need only be input once, either by a user or by files, and that data, after it has been verified to be correct, is automatically allocated to one or more templates used to generate shells for the specification of a final semiconductor product. Data must be correct and compatible with other data before it can be used within the template engine and the generated shells; indeed the template engine cooperates with a plurality of rules and directives to verify the correctness of the data.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2008Date of Patent: October 11, 2011Assignee: LSI CorporationInventors: Todd Jason Youngman, John Emery Nordman

Patent number: 7584437Abstract: A method, system, and a computer program product to provide correct and complete input into a shell generation tool that provides the infrastructure for design and development of an integrated circuit. Given a definition of a platform, in part a partially manufactured semiconductor product having some diffused and some configurable resources, a user can enter data that is correct and complete into the shell generation tool using several techniques. The tool itself can present data for the user to select that is complete and correct, i.e., the data, inter alia, has no syntactic or other errors of an HDL, satisfies the constraints and naming conventions required by the tool, a customer of the semiconductor product, and/or the entity designing the product, provides appropriate timing and voltage levels, and is otherwise compatible with other data in the generation tool.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2004Date of Patent: September 1, 2009Assignee: LSI CorporationInventors: Todd Jason Youngman, John Emery Nordman, Daniel Dean Ortmann

Patent number: 6730165Abstract: A device for impregnating a paper web with a molten polymer to produce a paper with improved resistance to oil and grease are provided. The device includes, as part of an on-machine process, an ordinary paper web composed of cellulose or synthetic fibers, a polymer applicator, a hot reel, and a winding reel. The web, which is created through a series of processes located upstream of the subject invention, first encounters the polymer applicator, which deposits a quantity of molten polymer onto the surface of the web. The web is next transferred to a hot reel, which maintains the temperature of the molten polymer above its melting point and thereby facilitates wicking of the molten polymer into the web. After the web passes the hot reel, it is wound onto a winding reel, where additional wicking occurs until the molten polymer cools to a temperature below its melting point.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2002Date of Patent: May 4, 2004Assignee: Tembec USA LLCInventors: Clair John Emery, Charles Martin Shields
