  • Publication number: 20190039311
Abstract: The present disclosure is related to three-dimensionally printed articles for use in footwear and associated systems and methods. In some embodiments, a three-dimensionally printed article may comprise a closed-cell foam. The closed-cell foam may have a gradient in and/or may be a single integrated material. In some embodiments, a three-dimensionally printed article may comprise a sensor. The use of such arrangements can, according to certain embodiments, allow for the production of improved articles of footwear and/or customized articles of footwear.

  • Publication number: 20190039310
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to the printing of materials, using 3-dimensional printing and other printing techniques, including the use of one or more mixing nozzles, and/or multi-axis control over the translation and/or rotation of the print head or the substrate onto which materials are printed. In some embodiments, a material may be prepared by extruding material through print head comprising a nozzle, such as a microfluidic printing nozzle, which may be used to mix materials within the nozzle and direct the resulting product onto a substrate. The print head and/or the substrate may be configured to be translated and/or rotated, for example, using a computer or other controller, in order to control the deposition of material onto the substrate.

  • Publication number: 20180193922
Abstract: According to at least one aspect, a method of manufacturing a three-dimensional (3D) object comprising a plurality of materials is provided. The method comprises depositing a first material via additive manufacturing, removing at least some deposited material via subtractive manufacturing, and after removing the at least some deposited material, depositing a second material via additive manufacturing.

  • Publication number: 20180194076
Abstract: According to at least one aspect, a manufacturing system for hybrid additive and subtractive manufacturing is provided. The manufacturing system includes a plurality of tools including a first material deposition tool configured to deposit a first material, a second material deposition tool configured to deposit a second material, and a cutting tool configured to remove at least some deposited material and a spindle configured to operate a tool from the plurality of tools that is mounted to the spindle. The manufacturing system is configured to create one or more layers of a three-dimensional object at least in part by depositing the first material using the first material deposition tool, depositing the second material using the second material deposition tool, and removing at least some deposited material using the cutting tool.
