  • Patent number: 4832986
Abstract: A method for forming metal nitride films is provided comprising employing the techniques of chemical vapor deposition to thermally decompose a vapor comprising a dialkyl(Group III metal) azide, so as to deposit a film of the corresponding metal nitride on the surface of a substrate.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 6, 1987
Date of Patent: May 23, 1989
Assignee: Regents of the University of Minnesota
Inventors: Wayne L. Gladfelter, Daniel R. Mantell, John F. Evans, Roland K. Schulze
  • Patent number: 4704162
Abstract: Solid scrap metal particles are ingested into molten metal by use of a linear induction motor which establishes a strong upstream in the molten metal adjacent one boundary wall to establish a standing wave at the surface and a corresponding downstream adjacent the opposite boundary, which is preferably in the form of a baffle having a metal outlet passage beneath it. The linear induction motor is conveniently positioned at a sidewell of a melting furnace and a continuous flow of molten metal through the sidewell is established in any convenient way.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 7, 1986
Date of Patent: November 3, 1987
    Assignee: Alcan International Limited
Inventors: Pervez J. F. Bamji, John F. Evans, Nigel P. Fitzpatrick

  • Patent number: 4055801
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the automatic testing of electronic equipment in which a general purpose digital computer is programmed for the equipment to be tested to generate appropriate stimulus waveforms for application to the equipment to be tested and for the measurement and evaluation of the waveforms responsively generated by the equipment tested. The computer directly controls the point-by-point generation of the analog stimulus waveforms by a plurality of analog to digital and analog to synchro converters, the application of the stimulus waveforms to selected leads of the unit to be tested, and the application of the response waveforms to a selected measurement circuit for conversion to digital form for subsequent evaluation by the computer against programmed standards.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 18, 1970
Date of Patent: October 25, 1977
Inventors: Harold L. Pike, G. Lamar Thomas, Ronald L. Ketchum, John F. Evans
