    Abstract: A process is provided for making alkylalkoxysilane by reacting a C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl alcohol in the presence of an effective catalytic amount of copper metal and an alkali metal carboxylate catalyst. Preferably, silicon and methanol are reacted in the presence of copper metal and potassium formate catalysts to produce methyltrimethyoxysilane.
