  • Patent number: 6823213
Abstract: An implantable medical device includes a sensor and a T-wave analyzer. The sensor is implantable within the body of a patient to sense electrical cardiac activity and provide an indication of T-wave alternans within the heart of the patient. The T-wave analyzer is responsive to the sensor, and evaluates cardiac risk based on comparison of the indication of T-wave alternans to a predetermined criterion. The T-wave analyzer may form part of a microprocessor, a digital signal processor, or combination of both. The device may include a pacing generator that applies increased rate pacing stimuli to the heart to facilitate sensing of the T-wave alternans by the sensor. The device also may incorporate a memory that stores the T-wave alternans indication provided by the sensor, e.g., over a number of heartbeats. In addition, the device may be equipped to provide an alert to the patient or a physician in the event the processor generates the indication of cardiac risk.

  • Publication number: 20040182808
Abstract: The present invention is a system for hanging garments. In one embodiment the system comprises first and second bracket members. The system further comprises a mounting member comprising a first end portion engaged with the first bracket member and a second end portion engaged with the second bracket member. The mounting member further comprises first and second outside surfaces and an upper surface. The first outside surface is substantially parallel to the second outside surface. Each of the first and second outside surfaces are perpendicular to the upper surface. The system further comprises a hangar member comprising a body portion adapted to receive the garment and an engagement portion adapted to engage with the mounting member. The engagement portion comprises an open engagement portion defined by first and second inside surfaces and an upper surface. The first inside surface is substantially parallel to the second inside surface.

  • Patent number: 5937456
Abstract: Disclosed is a device useable for by a technician to transport a patient to and from a hospital bed. In one embodiment, the device comprises: a support frame comprising a plurality of wheels adapted to roll upon the floor. The device further comprises a patient transfer portion engaged with and extending outward of the support frame and comprising a plurality of belts. The device further comprises a patient transport portion engaged with the support frame and comprising a plurality of belts. The device further comprises a drive wheel engaged with the support frame. The device further comprises a drive mechanism engaged with the support frame. The drive mechanism comprising a manual crank wheel and is adapted such that rotation of the manual crank wheel by the person causes the drive wheel to rotate and to move the support frame in a first direction and at a first velocity and to move the belts of the patient transfer portion and the patient transport portion in a second direction and at a second velocity.
