  • Patent number: 5061087
Abstract: A bearing apparatus for permitting axial rotational and angular movement of a doctor journal of a papermaking machine, includes a housing which defines a cylindrical bore for the reception therein of the doctor journal. An annular bearing ring defines an inner and an outer surface with the outer surface being cylindrical and having a diameter slightly less than the diameter of the bore such that when the ring is disposed within the bore, axial sliding of the bearing ring within the bore is permitted. A sleeve is disposed within the bearing ring with the sleeve defining an internal channel for supporting the doctor journal. The sleeve also defines an external face which closely conforms to the inner surface of the bearing ring such that angular movement of the sleeve within the bearing ring is permitted while axial movement of the sleeve relative to the bearing ring is inhibited.

  • Patent number: 4181378
Abstract: A doctor assembly for a paper making machine including a force fed lubricated bearing structure therefor with a doctor shaft having a journal axially oscillatable in an annular bearing housing with a bearing sleeve insert between the journal and the housing having axially extending grooves therein with annular outer end seals axially outwardly of the bearing insert and annular lip seals at the end of the bearing insert carried on the bearing and permitting flow of lubricant axially outwardly from the bearing to the annular pressure spaces between the lip seals and end seals and passages extending between the annular pressure chambers between the seals to the center of the bearing and having check valves in the passages preventing back flow but permitting lubricant to flow from the annular pressure chambers to the center of the bearing.

  • Patent number: 4021295
Abstract: The discharge pipes of a plurality of stock pumps, each supplying a separate concentrated stock slurry, are connected with a pipe containing comparatively dilute stock, commonly called "white water", discharged under pressure from a single fan pump on a single white water silo to supply separate slurries to separate chambers of a multi-ply web forming machine. The stock pumps have smaller capacities and pressure heads compared with a fan pump, thereby providing increased efficiency at required capacity with the minimum of equipment.
