  • Publication number: 20240408200
Abstract: Production and use of novel therapeutic cells, called T-Vehicles, in the allogeneic Adoptive Cell Therapy setting allows a wide range of therapeutic benefits to accrue with minimal or no risk of GVHD. T-Vehicles are created from donor T cells that are altered to contain therapeutic attributes that do not include their native antigen receptors and can deliver therapeutic benefits irrelevant of their native antigen specificity. T-Vehicles can possess highly restricted native antigen specificity that renders them unable to recognize antigens present on normal cells and incapable of initiating GVHD, making them ideal transport vehicles to deliver various therapeutic attributes in vivo. In essence, production and use of T-Vehicles is a paradigm shift that opens the door to therapeutic application of T cells in ways not previously contemplated, independent of whether or not there is an HLA match between the donor and the recipient.

  • Patent number: 12128358
Abstract: A method of treating a fluid comprises introducing a feed fluid stream comprising multiple materials to first side of a semi-permeable membrane. A draw fluid stream having a higher temperature than the feed fluid stream is introduced to second, opposing side of the semi-permeable membrane to form a thermal gradient across the semi-permeable membrane. One or more of the multiple materials of the feed fluid stream is drawn through the semi-permeable membrane and into the draw fluid stream via thermal gradient osmosis. A fluid treatment system and a thermal gradient osmosis apparatus are also described.

  • Publication number: 20240335175
Abstract: A system of shields designed to provide substantially greater protection, head to toe, against radiation exposure to health care workers in a hospital room during procedures which require real-time imaging. The shields are placed around the patient and the x-ray table and provide protection even when the x-ray tube is moved to various angles around the patient.

  • Publication number: 20240318137
Abstract: An improved method of culturing cells for cell therapy applications that includes growing desired cells in the presence of antigen-presenting cells and/or feeder cells and with medium volume to surface area ratio of up to 1 ml/cm2 if the growth surface is not comprised of gas permeable material and up to 2 ml/cm2 if the growth surface is comprised of gas permeable material. The desired cells are at a surface density of less than 0.5×106 cells/cm2 at the onset of a production cycle, and the surface density of the desired cells plus the surface density of the antigen presenting cells and/or feeder cells are at least about 1.25×105 cells/cm2.

  • Publication number: 20240260912
Abstract: X-ray procedure tables with improved structural strength that enable radiation shielding and integrated medical device and monitoring systems. The design allows the incorporation of an integrated patient support structure, radiation shielding and associated devices and conduits for medical care in procedures that employ X-ray imaging. The X-ray procedure table may be formed from a sled table attachable to a pedestal, with at least one side member extending along a bottom of the sled table to add structural rigidity.

  • Patent number: 11080374
Abstract: A computing device and method of controlling access to a computing device. A software lock request is received via an input device of the computing device. In response to receiving the software lock request, a picklist of a plurality of applications executable on the computing device is displayed on a display of the computing device. A selection of one or more impermissible applications from the plurality of applications executable on the computing device or one or more permitted applications from the plurality of applications executable on the computing device is received receiving via the input device. A locked state is entered. In the locked state, access is not permitted to the one or more impermissible applications and access is permitted to other applications of the plurality of applications executable on the computing device.

  • Patent number: 10635791
Abstract: A device and method for placing the device in a locked state having an associated set of permitted tasks so as to permit the device owner to share the device with others but maintain security over aspects of the device. A task change request is evaluated to determine whether the requested task is permitted and, if so, the requested task is allowed; if not, then an authorization process is invoked to prompt the user to input authorization data. Upon verification of the authorization data, the device may be unlocked and the requested change implemented. The permitted tasks may designate specific applications, specific operations or functions within applications or at the operating system level, one or more currently open windows, and other levels of granularity.

  • Patent number: 9770011
Abstract: A method for non-surgical neutering or castration of a non-human mammal for AAV-mediated delivery of an anti-GnRH polypeptide to a non-human animal is described. More particularly, the animal is administered an adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector having an AAV capsid having packaged therein nucleic acid sequences comprising an AAV 5? inverted terminal repeat (ITR), a sequence encoding a polypeptide which specifically binds gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) under control of regulatory sequences which direct expression of the polypeptide, and an AAV 3? ITR. A composition comprising the AAV-anti-GnRH may also be used for inhibiting tumor growth in a mammal with a cancer responsive to gonadal steroid hormones.

  • Patent number: 8825782
Abstract: There is disclosed a system and method for visually representing the probability of spam messages on a mobile communication device. In an embodiment, the method comprises: obtaining a probability that a message is spam; and for each of one or more messages in a message list, visually representing the probability that a message is spam such that any differences in the probabilities as between messages are discernable from the visual representation. In another embodiment, the method further comprises: determining the percentage of the message downloaded to the mobile communication device; and displaying for each of one or more messages appearing in the message list an object or icon visually representing at least one of the probability that the message is spam, or the percentage of the message downloaded to the mobile communication device.

  • Patent number: 8738717
Abstract: There is disclosed a system and method for delivering a message to a communication device. In an embodiment, the method comprises obtaining a probability that the message is spam; in dependence upon the probability that the message is spam, determining a variable message size; and sending the message to the communication device in dependence upon the determined variable message size. In an embodiment, the method further comprises receiving a user response whether the message is spam; and if the message is verified as being spam, then filtering the message from the communication device.

  • Patent number: 8548452
Abstract: Mobile device usage may be monitored and restricted by pushing enabling/disabling events from an administrator the device. The events impose a certain set of rules that can “lock” certain features provided by the device, according to permissions and pre-established policies, for a certain period of time. Such restricted periods may coincide with meetings or other events in which distractions should be kept to a minimum or be during regular, predetermined time periods. Preferably, the rules include conditional locks that allow a user to use a feature a reasonable number of times before the lock is activated to place the onus on the user for minimizing such distractions, while enabling the user to maintain access to such a vital communication tool.

  • Patent number: 8479106
Abstract: A method and device to simplify message reply composition on a communications device, using a partially transparent overlay to allow a user to freely scroll and move around to other sections of a message or message chain while still being able to see and edit the reply being composed. When the reply is scrolled such that the composition field is not visible on the display screen, the device displays the overlay when the user enters text or on user request. The user may then type text into the overlay while viewing the underlying portion of the reply message, such as previous messages in the string.

  • Patent number: 8452266
Abstract: A sender-specified courtesy notification scheme to delay notification by a receiving device of the receipt of a data message is disclosed. A sender may specify a notification parameter defining a delay and send the parameter in association with the data message to a recipient. The recipient's receiving device evaluates the parameter and notifies in response. Local notification data defined by the recipient may also be evaluated. Received data messages subject to delayed notification may be hidden by the receiving device or quietly displayed (e.g. as per other received messages) until the expiry of the delay. Notification parameters and data can be formulated as one or more rules which may take into account the current location of the receiving device. A notification delay may be ignored in certain situations depending on recent use of the receiving device.
