  • Patent number: 10486929
Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting the presence of metallic objects in media to be conveyed in a medium transport system are disclosed. One or more induction sensors are included in the medium transport system to detect the presence of metal in the transported media, with detection signals sent from the sensors to a system processing unit. An ultrasonic detector is employed in some embodiments to output another detection signal. One or more microphones may also be included, for detecting the sound created as the medium is being transported. The system processing unit analyzes various detection signals and analyzes computed sound values from the microphones, to determine the presence and location of metal in the media. A position jam detector may assist in determining jams of the media along the medium transport path.

  • Patent number: 10150632
Abstract: A system and method of detecting the presence of metallic objects in media to be conveyed in a medium transport system is disclosed. One or more metal detectors are included in the medium transport system to detect the presence of metal in the medium being transported. Signals from the metal detectors are sent to a system processor, which analyzes the signals, and produces proximity, duration, and/or intensity values therefrom. One or more microphones may also be included which detect the sound created as the medium is being transported. The processor computes sound values from the microphone signals, and analyzes the computed sound values along with the proximity, duration, and/or intensity values in order determine if the conveyance of the medium along the transport path should be stopped due to the presence of metal in the media or a jam occurring within the medium transport path.

  • Publication number: 20070237243
Abstract: System and method for combining signals on a differential signal provided over a communication link. In one aspect, a system for providing a differential communication link includes a signal combination circuit that receives a data signal and a clock signal and outputs a modulated differential signal on a differential link, where the modulated differential signal includes a differential data signal having an offset modulated at a frequency of the clock signal. A receiving circuit receives the modulated differential signal and senses and recovers the data signal and the clock signal therefrom.

  • Publication number: 20070069785
Abstract: An electronic device selects one of a plurality of input signals for coupling to an output channel. Individual pulldowns provide a separate pathway for each input, and are coupled to a common node which: is pre-charged to a voltage less than a system voltage. Each pulldown is coupled to a select line for gating an associated input signal.

  • Patent number: 7138506
Abstract: The present invention provides a simple, cost-effective, universal method for determining and/or quantifying differences in nucleic acid levels between two or more test mixtures without prior knowledge of the sequence of the nucleic acids of interest. The method involves providing a universal microarray containing a plurality of spots, where each spot contains a plurality, or pool, of different oligonucleotide probes having at least three distinct portions: a universal sequence portion, a short central variable “wobble” sequence portion, and a unique sequence portion. A set of probes is synthesized such that the universal sequence portion is the same for every probe, and all possible permutations of the wobble sequence and unique sequence portions are represented in approximately equal concentrations in the set.

  • Publication number: 20060214844
Abstract: A local area augmentation navigation system for determining the authenticity of the GPS signal. The system is provided with at least one reference station at a known location, a master station, a monitoring receiver, and a LAAS receiver. Each reference station receives a GPS signal from a GPS constellation and collects and outputs pseudo-range data from the GPS signal. The master station receives the pseudo-range data from the reference stations. The master station forms a correction message from the pseudo-range data and the known locations of the reference station. The master station broadcasts the correction message. The monitoring receiver receives the GPS signal from the GPS constellation and the correction message to determine the accuracy of at least one of the broadcasted correction message and the GPS signal.
