  • Publication number: 20240124189
Abstract: A can end (10) has a curl (14) extending circumferentially about a longitudinal axis (50). A circumferential wall (15) extends downwardly. A strengthening member (16) is joined to lower segment of the circumferential wall (15). A center panel (12) extends radially inwardly from the circumferential strengthening member (16). A rivet (38) attaches a tab (28) to the center panel (12). A cover is attached to the tab (28) and is rotation therewith. A frangible score (24) in the center panel (12) is breakable to form a pour opening (27) in the center panel (12). The cover is rotatable to overlay the pour opening (27) and effectively reclose the pour opening (27) in a reclosed condition of the can end (10).

  • Publication number: 20220044255
Abstract: A system and method mitigate configuration change risk for a managed service in a customer environment. Reconfiguration commands sent to a management interface are intercepted and provided to a mitigation service executing in the customer environment. The mitigation service computes a risk rating for each such command based on a wide variety of factors. If the risk is low, then the mitigation service passes the command transparently to the management interface for execution. However, if the risk is too high, then the mitigation service requests an authorization code before the command can be executed. The acceptable level of risk may be set jointly by the customer and the managed service provider according to a service level agreement. Authorization codes can confirm performance of many mitigation actions, including approval by the customer or a supervising manager, studying relevant documentation, and clean execution of the command in a testing environment.

  • Patent number: 10334713
Abstract: An electrical transformer system using helical electrodes applied to a plasma. Systems and methods transform DC voltages and currents to different DC voltages and currents. Instead of using wires and iron cores similar to known transformers, the present DC to DC transformer system exploits plasma, helical electrodes, an axial magnetic field and radial magnetic field coils, with a control system to specify a radial magnetic field at the edge of a specified magnitude. A DC input voltage is applied, and an output is taken from electrodes at opposite the ends of the central apparatus. The system and apparatus contains a radial magnetic field embedded in the helical electrodes; the secondary current is taken from either solid or split (slotted) electrodes. Methods are disclosed for changing the output voltage and current relative to the input values. The system can function as either a stepup or a stepdown transformer.

  • Patent number: 10178749
Abstract: An apparatus and corresponding systems and methods for managing electric power, particularly a transformer system and method, and more specifically a transformer for direct current. An example apparatus includes a chamber configured to contain plasma. The apparatus includes input electrodes disposed at least partially within the chamber, and configured to receive a first direct current input into the chamber. The input electrodes are configured to cause the input direct current to induce motion in the plasma. Motion induced in the plasma transforms current flowing there-through. At output electrodes extend from the chamber. The output electrodes conduct a second direct current, from the induced motion in the plasma, for delivery from the chamber.

  • Patent number: 10172226
Abstract: An apparatus and corresponding systems and methods for managing electric power, particularly a transformer system and method, and more specifically a transformer for transforming direct current to alternating current. An example apparatus includes a chamber configured to contain plasma. The apparatus includes input electrodes disposed at least partially within the chamber, and configured to receive direct current input into the chamber. The input electrodes are configured to cause the input direct current to induce motion in the plasma. Motion induced in the plasma transforms current flowing there-through. Output electrodes extend from the chamber, which output electrodes may rotated in a controlled manner. The output electrodes conduct a three or one phase alternating current, from the induced motion in the plasma, for delivery from the chamber.

  • Publication number: 20180343732
Abstract: An alternating current to direct current electrical transformer system, based on helical electrodes applied to a plasma in a chamber. A three-phase AC input voltage is be applied to helically shaped electrodes in the chamber, and a DC output is taken from endcap electrodes at opposite the ends of the device. The secondary current is taken from solid or optionally split or slotted electrodes at the ends of the device. The system uses plasma, input electrodes, an axial magnetic field and a conducting wall that acts as a flux conserver for the frequency of the AC power. The system includes apparatus which contains a radial magnetic field embedded in the helical electrodes. The system also offers methods for changing the output voltage and current relative to the input values. Thus, the system can function as either a stepup or a stepdown transformer.
