Patent number: 10913010Abstract: In an improved method of distilling fluids, some or all of the fluid is recovered as distillate and the fluid is situated in the shell side of a first shell and tube heat exchanger. The fluid to be recovered as distillate is successively boiled, demisted, compressed and then introduced into upper ends of the tubes. A second shell and tube heat exchanger is located below the first heat exchanger, and distillate from upper ends of the tubes in the second heat exchanger are arranged to receive distillate liquid and/or vapor from the lower ends of tubes of the first heat exchanger. The fluid is located in the shell of the second heat exchanger and that fluid is heated but is not boiled. A mechanism is provided to supply at least some of the heated fluid to the shell of the first heat exchanger.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2017Date of Patent: February 9, 2021Assignee: THE QUEENSTOWN TRUSTInventor: John Fleming

Publication number: 20200032799Abstract: A Rotary Claw Pump with at least one pair of intermeshing rotors has the same shape within a tolerance of ±3% of the radii from edges to rotational centers. A convex portion of the claws has a nominal uniform rate of radius change with angle of rotation. There may be multiple stages wherein the thickness of each successive rotor pair maintains profile but has a thickness within 20% of the thickness of the first stage rotor pair multiplied by the inverse products of the compression ratios of the preceding stages. A discharge port is at least partially uncovered at any position of rotation from where intermeshing claw rotor tips are closest to where they are most distant. The discharge port is at least partially connected with a region connected with the rotor tips of both claws during rotation. The discharge port limits pressure increase in the region.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 27, 2017Publication date: January 30, 2020Inventor: John FLEMING

Patent number: 10316616Abstract: A dissolvable bridge plug configured with components for maintaining anchoring and structural integrity for high pressure applications. These components may substantially dissolve to allow for ease of plug removal following such applications. The plug may effectively provide isolation in a cased well for applications generating over about 8,000-10,000 psi. At the same time, by employment of a dissolve period for the noted components, such a plug may be drilled-out in less than about 30 minutes, even where disposed in a lateral leg of the well.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2010Date of Patent: June 11, 2019Assignee: SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY CORPORATIONInventors: Jack Stafford, Billy Greeson, John Fleming, Manuel P. Patent number: 9610917Abstract: Disclosed is a restraint system for a vehicle. A crewmember or occupant is interconnected to the restraint system by way of a strap. The strap has two separate and independently operable release mechanisms. The strap permits the occupant to be either manually or automatically released from the associated restraint. The restraint can be mounted within any of a variety of land, sea, air, or space based vehicles. In one non-limiting embodiment, the first release mechanism is automatically activated in response to a triggering event and the second release mechanism is manually activated by the occupant pulling on a lanyard.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 2012Date of Patent: April 4, 2017Assignee: Carleton Life Support Systems, Inc.Inventor: John Fleming
