Abstract: A method for filtering a table may include creating a filter in response to a user selecting data in a first table. The method may also include applying the filter to at least one other table in response to a user selecting at least one column in the at least one other table.

Abstract: Under the present invention, when a user resizes or otherwise hides a column in the electronic table, a graphical indicia is displayed that represents the hidden column(s). If a user interacts with the indicia (e.g., by hovering a mouse/input device over it), a pop-window will be displayed that identifies the hidden column(s). The pop-up window can include icons representing each hidden column or an associated function. By manipulating the listing contained in the pop-up window, the user can un-hide the hidden table column(s), change their order in the electronic table, etc. In addition, the indicia can be formatted (e.g., boldfaced, colored, or otherwise altered) to reflect a status of an entry or cell in one of the hidden column(s).

Abstract: The present invention provides portal friendly user interface widgets that can detect environmental factors in a portal page and automatically adjust the markup they produce based on the detected environmental factors. Each portal friendly widget comprises: a system for detecting at least one environmental factor in a portal page; and a system for automatically adjusting markup produced by the portal friendly widget based on the at least one detected environmental factor.

Abstract: A modal dialog is embedded within a Web application page. Because the dialog interface is presented within the current user interface component, the user does not lose the context for the information required for the dialog. The dialog interface is presented directly inline with the rest of the user interface on the page.

Abstract: Multiple entries in a table are selected or deselected by designating a particular data field of a first entry. The selection state of other entries, the content of whose corresponding data field matches that of the first entry, is toggled. The data field may be designated by selecting a data field designation glyph in a web interface, by mouse-selecting a data field with a unique keyboard and/or mouse input, or by directing the table focus to a data field and entering a unique keyboard and/or mouse input. The desired entries need not be contiguous, and need not be visibly displayed in the table.
