  • Patent number: 4040843
Abstract: Regenerated cellulose filaments containing a flame-retardant amount of liquid oligomeric compounds, prepared by heating together liquid polyphosphonitrilic esters with phosphoric anhydride, and method for preparing same.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 9, 1976
Date of Patent: August 9, 1977
    Assignee: FMC Corporation
Inventors: Borivoj Richard Franko-Filipasic, John Francis Start
  • Patent number: 3990900
Abstract: A novel process consisting of reacting a phosphonitrilic chloride with an alcohol or alkoxide to 12 carbon atoms to produce a partially esterified phosphonitrilic chloride, removing impurities from the chloroester and heating the ester to form a condensed polymeric phosphazene with P-O-P oxygen linkages. This new class of polymer phosphazenes, with P-O-P oxygen linkages, is unusually efficacious in rendering rayon flame-retardant.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 14, 1974
Date of Patent: November 9, 1976
    Assignee: FMC Corporation
Inventors: Borivoj Richard Franko-Filipasic, Edward Francis Orwoll, John Francis Start
  • Patent number: 3986882
Abstract: Regenerated cellulose filaments having dispersed therein a flame-retardant amount of phosphonitrilic esters containing a substantial amount of cyclic structures, dimerized, oligomerized, or polymerized, that are prepared by esterification of a phosphonitrilic chloride polymer with ethylene glycol.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 12, 1973
Date of Patent: October 19, 1976
    Assignee: FMC Corporation
Inventors: Borivoj Richard Franko-Filipasic, John Francis Start
