Abstract: Under one aspect, an interface program stored on a computer-readable medium causes a computer system to perform the functions of: accepting search criteria from a user, the search criteria including a free-text query and a domain identifier, the domain identifier identifying a domain in a metric vector space; in response to accepting the search criteria from the user, obtaining a set of document-location tuples from a corpus of documents, each document-location tuple satisfying the search criteria from the user, each location having associated cartographic display attributes; displaying a visual representation of the domain having an average spatial scale; selecting a subset of the set of document-location tuples based on the cartographic display attributes and on the average spatial scale of the visual representation of the domain; and displaying a plurality of visual indicators representing the selected subset of document-location tuples.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a nonwoven filtration medium is provided comprising substantially continuous sheath/core bicomponent filaments arranged to form an open, porous, fluid permeable spunbond nonwoven fabric. The core component of the filaments comprises polyester or polypropylene and the sheath component comprises polyethylene having a melting temperature less than the melting temperature of the core component and including an organic antimicrobial agent incorporated therein. A multiplicity of bond sites are distributed uniformly throughout the fabric and defined by regions where the lower-melting sheath component has softened and flowed together at filament cross-over locations, with the individual being filaments spaced apart from one another except at the filament cross-over locations. The spunbond nonwoven fabric preferably has a thickness of about 10 to 40 mils and an air permeability from 150 to 270 cfm/ft2/min.

Abstract: A method for recording changing boiler conditions over time in three spatial dimensions including: sensing the boiler conditions in real time using sensors which traverse the combustion chamber and gas path generating data from a plurality of positions in one or more supervisory spaces of interest within the boiler system; transmitting the generated data to a computer system; presenting data containing sensor position information and which optionally contains temperature, chemical species information, and other combustor condition information for delivery to a boiler management system to enable said boiler management system to make real time operational adjustments.

Abstract: A cable tie includes a locking head and an attached strap, the locking head being adapted to receive and engage the strap when the tie is formed into a closed loop. The cable tie additionally includes a fir-tree fastener connected to the locking head by an elongated standoff that includes a stem and an enlarged member which separates the stem into first and second sections. In use, a plurality of wires bundled together by the tie can be secured to an automotive valve cover by inserting the fastener and the first section of the stem through a corresponding bore formed in the valve cover. With tie inserted as such, the second section of the stem serves to space the bundled wires away from the valve cover, with the first section of the stem and the enlarged member together serving to stabilize the tie within the bore of the valve cover.

A health assessment-intervention component collects and screens diagnostic and demographic data from clients and assists in forming health-care related decisions, action plans and treatment plans. The system can collect and maintain health-related data from third parties such as physicians, researchers, universities and the like, and can provide user accessible personal health records and health decision assistance. The invention can be implemented in numerous ways, including as a system, a device, a method, or a computer readable medium implemented as a smart drive device and/or keychain-type memory device, for example.

Abstract: A school-wide notification and response system utilizes an administrator interface to transmit a message from an administrator to a contact devices for employees and parents associated with a school. The system comprises a dynamic information database that includes parent and employee contact data, priority information, and response data. The administrator initiates distribution of the message based upon grouping information, priority information, and the priority order. The message is transmitted through at least two industry standard gateways simultaneously to groups of parent and employee contact devices based upon priority information. Once the message is received by the parent and employee contact devices, the parent and employee contact devices transmit a response through the industry standard gateways back to the dynamic information database.

Abstract: Techniques are described for performing a one-touch search to locate a selected item associated with an RFID tag. The techniques allow, for example, an RFID reader to perform a search where a user selects an item from a list, and the RFID reader, without any further input from the user, interrogates one or more RFID tags until an RFID tag associated with the selected item is found. The RFID reader may also allow a user to associate items with an RFID tag, view items associated with an RFID tag, and edit item lists associated with an RFID tag. In this way, an RFID reader may associate any number of items to an RFID tag, repeatedly edit existing item lists associated with an RFID tag, and quickly search multiple RFID tags until a desired item associated with a particular RFID tag is found.

Abstract: A one-piece cable tie includes a locking head and an attached strap, the locking head being adapted to receive and selectively engage a portion of the strap when the tie is formed into a closed loop. The cable tie additionally includes a fastener formed onto the locking head that is designed for connection with the electrical connector for an oxygen sensor for an automotive emissions control system. The fastener includes a flattened platform that is spaced away from the top surface of the locking head by an inverted T-shaped standoff, the flattened platform being sized and shaped to be slidably disposed within a corresponding slot formed in the electrical connector. A ratchet-shaped projection is formed onto the flat top surface of the platform that serves to retain the platform in place within the slot in the electrical connector.

Abstract: Nonwoven fabric fabrics suitable for undergoing pleating to form filtration media are provided. The fabrics generally include at least three layers. The fibers forming the inner layer has a cross section providing greater stiffness, while the fibers forming the outer layers have a cross section providing greater durability. The resulting fabrics provide improved particulate holding and pressure drop characteristics at no sacrifice to durability.

The cable tie additionally includes a fir-tree fastener formed onto the locking head, the fastener being sized and shaped to be fittingly inserted through a quarter-inch circular opening in a panel. The fastener includes a stem and a plurality of flutes formed onto the stem in such a manner so as not to interfere with one another when the fastener is being fittingly inserted through the opening in the panel. Because the fastener does not experience flute interference when inserted through a panel opening, the fastener is characterized as having a relatively low insertion force (i.e., the force required to insert the fastener into the panel opening) while maintaining a relatively high extraction force (i.e., the force required to withdraw the fastener from the panel opening).

Abstract: A refrigerator water filter assembly is provided in the ceiling of a refrigerator and is adapted to hinge downwardly from the ceiling for changing the filter cartridge. The cartridge is normally partially recessed within the ceiling so as to minimize the use of space in the food compartment of the refrigerator. The filter assembly includes a base mounted in the refrigerator ceiling, a manifold pivotally mounted on the base, a filter cartridge attached to the manifold, and a cover pivotally mounted on the manifold so as to be movable between open and closed positions. When the cover is opened, the filter cartridge is angled downwardly from the ceiling for easy grasping by a person for replacement of the cartridge.
