  • Patent number: 7018444
Abstract: A system for removing and purifying a carbon dioxide-containing stream from a batch process tool is provided. A multi-phase contaminated stream containing at least carbon dioxide and one or more co-solvent is removed from a process tool and conveyed to at least one intermediate pressure separator. The contaminant-containing stream is separated into an intermediate pressure carbon dioxide-enriched vapor stream and an intermediate pressure solvent and contaminant-enriched stream in the intermediate pressure separator.

    Assignee: Praxair Technology, Inc.
Inventors: John Frederic Billingham, Thomas John Bergman, Jr., Richard Martin Kelly, Kenneth Leroy Burgers, William Thoru Kobayashi
  • Patent number: 6023945
Abstract: An annular column, particularly useful for cryogenic rectification, comprising coaxially oriented, radially spaced cylindrical column walls defining a first column region, and a second column region between the walls, wherein different fluid mixtures are rectified in each of the first column and second column regions.

  • Patent number: 5921109
Abstract: A method for operating a cryogenic rectification column for the separation of the components of air by cryogenic rectification, whereby the column may be operated above its design capacity without encountering flooding, by passing vapor upward through the column at a flowrate which generates a pressure drop within the column of at least 0.7 inches of water per foot of packing height through a height of defined structured packing sheets having a different structure in their upper and lower portions.

    Assignee: Praxair Technology, Inc.
Inventors: John Frederic Billingham, Daniel Mark Seiler, Michael James Lockett
  • Patent number: 5896755
Abstract: A cryogenic rectification system for producing oxygen having a feed air preparation system and a plurality of same size cold box modules operating in parallel and in conjunction with the feed air preparation system.
