  • Publication number: 20130080402
Abstract: A system and method for validating data stored in one or more vehicle electronic units includes confirming that a data validation package is present in a first electronic control unit on-board the vehicle, comparing data in the validation package to data stored by at least one target electronic control unit on-board the vehicle, logging any discrepancies between the data in the validation package and the data stored by the at least one target electronic control unit, and wirelessly transmitting a message from the first electronic control unit identifying any discrepancies in the data stored by the at least one electronic control unit to a remote location.

  • Publication number: 20110018760
Abstract: A method for determining location such as vehicle location receives data at a predetermined frequency, validates the received data, stores the received data based on the validation and computes a location based on the stored data. The validation includes verifying a presence of particular data substrings within the received data, verifying a presence of a plurality of data fields within each data substring, computing a parameter based on information contained in two of the plurality of data fields and comparing the computer parameter with a pre-defined threshold.

  • Patent number: 7305294
Abstract: A method of controlling a vehicle includes reducing a speed of the vehicle in response to a vehicle shutdown signal, monitoring at least one of a speed of the vehicle and a torque of an engine of the vehicle, determining whether the monitored at least one of the speed and torque is decreasing, if the monitored at least one of the speed and torque is not decreasing, enabling the engine of the vehicle to operate at a reduced power level, and stopping the vehicle when the monitored at least one of the speed and torque has reached a predetermined level. A control system for a vehicle includes a processor that reduces a speed of the vehicle in response to a vehicle shutdown signal. The processor monitors at least one of a speed of the vehicle and a torque of an engine of the vehicle and determines whether the monitored at least one of the speed and torque is decreasing.
