    Abstract: Personal floatation devices for use in supporting an individual in an upright and horizontal position along the surface of the water are disclosed. An illustrative personal floatation device may include a main body, at least one upper inflatable floatation member for providing floatation support to an upper section of the main body, at least one lower inflatable flotation member for providing floatation support to a lower section of the main body, and inflation means for selectively inflating each of the one or more upper and/or lower inflatable floatation members. The personal floatation device can be configured to provide floatation support to the individual's upper and lower torso as well as to the hip section and buttocks. The personal floatation device may provide buoyancy sufficient to orient the individual in a fully upright and horizontal position while also stabilizing the individual within the water.
